The Babinski Foundation will be the model shelter in our surrounding area, making sure that we address issues of pet overpopulation via our services and provide education on how to prevent it. We also aim to prevent as many pet deaths as we can year after year. The Babinski Foundation believes in the Five Freedoms for animal welfare.

Get ready for some messy fun where kids compete to chow down their pie (pudding & whipped cream) the fastest at The Babinski Foundation Fall Festival!

This free to enter pie eating contest is bound to be a hoot for the kids and for the parents in the audience. Entry is completely free, and we’ve got some awesome prizes up for grabs:

Prepare to bake your best apple pie and compete for a $100.00 grand prize at the Babinski Foundation Fall Festival on September 12th at 2:00 PM! Join us for a day of fun and deliciousness featuring carnival games, a petting zoo, hayrides, live music, and food trucks!

Show off your skills and take in the smell of freshly baked apple pies. Whether you're a seasoned baker or just starting out, everyone is welcome to participate! Our panel of local celebrity judges will evaluate your pie based on presentation, creativity, and taste.

Get ready to hit the trails THIS SATURDAY to raise some funds for The Babinski Foundation's shelter animals! 🏃🐕

This event, sponsored by Lakeside Simplicity & Clow Stamping Co, and hosted by Anytime Fitness, is a fantastic way to enjoy nature while helping us raise crucial funds for our shelter animals.

Your registration includes:
👕A free T-shirt
🍖Free BBQ (from the Babinski BBQ competition)
🍺Free BEER for the first, second, and third place winners (21+).

Your four-legged friend can join the trek and will be rewarded with unlimited pup cups at the finish line. The 5K will take runners and walkers through our beautiful dog trails and wooded areas, offering a fresh breath of nature.

Registration is $30, available online or on the day of the event.

Event Schedule:
8:00 AM: Check-in begins! Sign in or register day of and pick up your T-shirt.
8:45 AM: Warm-up time led by the Nisswa Anytime Fitness!
9:00 AM: The 5K starts!

Join us as we celebrate a decade of rescue! Our 5th annual Fall Festival, Sponsored by Lakeside Simplicity, will take place on September 12th from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. In honor of our shelter’s 10th anniversary, this year’s event is bigger and better than ever. Check out the lineup below:

🧘‍♀️🐾Fitness for the Animals (9:00 AM – 10:00 AM)
Kick off the morning with the 5K Wilderness Trek, hosted by Nisswa Anytime Fitness. Check-in begins at 8:00 AM for a 9:00 AM start. Prefer a slower pace? Join Treff Brock with Guiding Elements Yoga and some of our adorable shelter pups for Puppy Yoga at 9:00 AM. Register through the Fall Festival website linked below!

🥞🚨Free Pancake Breakfast (10:00 AM – 11:00 AM)
Not a runner? No problem. If pancakes are more your speed, join us for a free breakfast hosted by our local Police Chiefs and Sheriffs.

🎃🐈‍⬛All-Day Festival Fun (11:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
We’re bringing back the classics and adding exciting new traditions! Enjoy a Food Truck Festival (this year's lineup is crazy!), expanded carnival games, hayrides, and family friendly activities. Browse our massive Craft Fair, Farmers Market, and a Flea Market packed with unique finds. Oh, and don’t forget to enter your apple pie into the Apple Pie Baking Contest or take place in the Kid's Pie Eating Competition!

🔥Backyard BBQ Competition & Tasting! (10:00 AM to 6:00 PM)
A delicious and fun filled part of the festival! Fifteen teams will compete for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, and People's Choice awards. The Babinski Foundation will supply the racks of ribs, and the teams will cook them up for the judges and the community to determine who makes the best ribs around. If you don't want to cook, but do want to eat... public rib sales begin at 4:30 PM! Sign up through our Fall Festival website (linked below).

🤑New this year: Win Big! To celebrate 10 years of operation, we’re hosting a $10,000 Raffle, a Classic Car Raffle, a Duck Derby, Pull-tabs, Bingo, and a massive Balloon Drop with over $2,000 in prizes. Plus, don’t miss the Fireman Fashion Show, where local heroes will strut their stuff alongside shelter animals to help them find forever homes!

Many activities are free including the petting zoo and and bounce house. Low-fee tickets are available for pony rides, pumpkin decorating, hair styling, face painting, potato target shooting, and more!

🎵🎶Catch Russ Parish and the Lone Oaks from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with openers Roy Allen from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, AJ Spoff from 12:00 to 2:30 PM, and Eric Whitson from 2:30 to 4:00 PM. Live music will be playing all day long, so grab a beer from Jackpine Brewery, some grub from our Food Truck Fest, and enjoy the show!

👻 Ghost 👻
Boo!! If you don't take Ghost home, you'll forever be haunted by the regret... OooOoo! Ghost is a 5-year-old, 80-pound German Shepherd mix who was found abandoned and brought to the shelter. He's good with dogs and cats (once his initial excitement wears off), and has experience being around livestock and poultry.

Ghost has spent his life as an outdoor dog, so he's always thrilled to head outside at the shelter, but gets just as excited to retreat to his cozy, air conditioned kennel! He's an absolute sweetheart and we don't know how you wouldn't fall in love when he looks up at you like that! Ghost already sits nicely for treats and walks amazingly on a leash. Since he's lived his life as an outdoor dog, he will need a little guidance with potty training if you'd like to welcome him into the home. He's having fewer and fewer accidents every day at the shelter, so we bet he'd get the hang of it in no time!

Ghost is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. You can visit him at the shelter Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or Sundays from 12:00 to 5:00 PM.
