Paws Giving Independence NFP Saving a life to change a life. Our purpose is to train service/facility dogs and place them free of charge. Visit our website for more info!

Paws Giving Independence is run completely on public donations. We are unique because our service dogs are placed free of charge and we currently have no paid staff. That is why we need your help to keep our program running. Many of our dogs are all rescued from shelters but we need your support to pay for the vet bills and everyday care.

🐾Annual ADI Recertification!🐾

Did you know that our service dogs and facility dogs along with their handlers work very hard endlessly throughout the year to prepare for recertification? This process helps ensure that each team continues to meet the standards needed to work safely and effectively together. Recertification is a chance to demonstrate their skills, teamwork, and the strong bond they’ve built!

We’re so proud of our service dog teams and all the hard work they put into continuing to change lives! Give it up for the 2026 teams! 🐕‍🦺❤️

Meet Ace! 🦮

Ace graduated from the Paws Giving Independence program in 2023 and works full-time as a mobility service dog. Ace started in our program as a little puppy and went through all stages of training including puppy raising, the Helping Paws Program, transition training, and then being placed with his recipient. Ace loves his job! He gets to go on all kinds of adventures from disc golf to hiking, Ace does it all! When not working, Ace loves to play with his favorite kiddos and cuddle with the people he loves most. Ace has made such a difference in his recipient’s life and they continue to be a strong working team everyday. We are so proud of team Ace! 🐾

Reunion! 🐕‍🦺❤️🐾

Our dogs had a very special day reuniting with the incredible inmate trainers at the Helping Paws Program at Logan Correctional Facility! They got to reconnect with the people who helped train them to become service dogs and meet the new handlers whose lives they’re now making a difference in.

These reunions are a beautiful reminder of the lasting bonds formed through the Helping Paws Program and the incredible impact of teamwork, compassion, and second chances. We’re so proud of these amazing dogs and everyone who plays a part in their journey!

Freddy: Then vs Now

It’s Transformation Tuesday with Freddy! Freddy is a 1.5 year old doodle from Edwards English Doodles currently in our Helping Paws program. Freddy joined our program as a little puppy and is now all grown up and working hard on his advanced skills. We have loved watching him on his journey and are so proud of how far he’s come! One thing’s for sure, his smile hasn’t changed a bit! 🩵🐾
