With the heaviest of hearts, we share that our sweet Marcus Luttrell has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Marcus was the only surviving puppy from a severe neglect case. At just 3 days old and only 23 ounces, he entered this world with unimaginable odds stacked against him. He fought through more than most dogs will ever face, carrying congenital birth defects that ultimately led to complications with his lungs.

Last night his body simply couldn't fight anymore.

While our hearts are shattered, we find comfort knowing Marcus never knew a life without love. He was spoiled, pampered, cherished, and adored by everyone lucky enough to meet him. His goofy personality, gentle heart, and incredible spirit had a way of making everyone fall in love with him.

The greatest gift we could have ever given Marcus was his forever family. He was settling in beautifully, had already worked his way into his big brother Tank's heart, and finally knew what it felt like to truly be home. Sometimes we wonder if, after spending his whole life fighting just to survive, he finally felt safe enough to rest.

Marcus's story was never defined by how long he lived, but by how deeply he was loved.

Thank you to everyone who followed his journey, prayed for him, donated, celebrated his victories, and loved him from afar. You gave this little warrior a life filled with compassion, comfort, and joy.

Run free, sweet boy. Your body may have failed you, but your spirit never did. You will always be part of our family, and you will never be forgotten.

Until we meet again, Marcus. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

๐ŸŽ† FOR US, IT'S FIREWORKS. FOR THEM, IT CAN BE THE SCARIEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR. ๐Ÿพ

Did you know the days surrounding the 4th of July see more lost pets reported than almost any other time of the year?

While we're enjoying cookouts, fireworks, and family gatherings, many dogs are experiencing panic, anxiety, and fear. Even dogs with solid obedience can bolt when startled by loud explosions.

Before the fireworks start, take a few simple steps to keep your dog safe:

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Keep them indoors in a secure area
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Double-check collars, tags, and microchip information
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Exercise them earlier in the day to help burn energy
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Close blinds, turn on TVs or white noise, and create a calm environment
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Never assume your dog "would never run away"

๐Ÿšจ IF YOUR DOG GOES MISSING ๐Ÿšจ

One of the biggest mistakes owners make is immediately chasing, calling, or searching aggressively. A frightened dog is often operating in survival mode and may avoid even the people they love most.

Instead:

๐Ÿพ Set up a feeding station near the last known location
๐Ÿพ Leave food, water, and an item carrying your scent
๐Ÿพ Keep the area quiet and undisturbed
๐Ÿพ Use trail cameras or security cameras if possible
๐Ÿพ Allow your dog to feel safe enough to return on their own

Remember: Your lost dog is not behaving like your family pet. They are behaving like a scared animal trying to survive.

Your calm can become their way home.

Marcus Luttrell the only surviving puppy out of a neglect case in LA was 3 days old and 23oz when he came to us. He is a fighter with a multitude of health issues he continues to defy the odd and get stronger every day. Thriving with his foster family tomorrow he takes big steps and leaves to his forever family

06/20/2026

Tomorrow is a big day for Marcus Luttrell.
Marcus was the only surviving puppy from a severe neglect case in Louisiana. At just 3 days old, he weighed only 23 ounces and his future was uncertain. He arrived fragile, fighting for every ounce, every feeding, and every day.
Since then, Marcus has faced more challenges than any puppy ever should. Multiple health issues, setbacks, sleepless nights, and moments where the odds were stacked against him. But Marcus never got the memo that he was supposed to give up.
He fought.
Day after day, ounce by ounce, milestone by milestone, he grew stronger. He learned to trust, to play, to explore, and to love. What started as a tiny, struggling puppy has become a confident, thriving dog surrounded by people who believed in him every step of the way.
Tomorrow, Marcus takes his biggest step yet.
He leaves the foster family who helped save his life and begins the next chapter with his forever family.
These are the moments that make every late-night feeding, every vet visit, every worry, and every tear worth it. Rescue isn't just about saving a lifeโ€”it's about giving that life a future.
Marcus, you were never supposed to make it according to the odds. Yet here you are, proving once again that heart is stronger than statistics.
Run fast. Love big. And never forget how many people were cheering for you from the very beginning.
โค๏ธ Happy Gotcha Day, Marcus.

HOT WEATHER CAN TURN DEADLY FAST FOR DOGS๐ŸŒก

Many people assume if they're comfortable outside, their dog is too. The reality is that dogs cool themselves very differently than we do, and heat-related injuries can happen in minutes.

โ˜€๏ธ At just 80ยฐF, asphalt can reach 115ยฐF. โ˜€๏ธ At 90ยฐF, pavement can exceed 140ยฐF. โ˜€๏ธ A parked vehicle can become life-threatening even when the outside temperature feels "nice."

Watch for signs of heat distress: ๐Ÿšจ Excessive panting ๐Ÿšจ Thick drool ๐Ÿšจ Bright red gums ๐Ÿšจ Weakness or stumbling ๐Ÿšจ Vomiting or diarrhea ๐Ÿšจ Collapse or unresponsiveness

If your dog is showing signs of overheating: โ„๏ธ Move them to shade immediately ๐Ÿ’ง Offer cool (not ice-cold) water ๐ŸงŠ Wet their paws, belly, and groin area with cool water โ˜Ž๏ธ Contact a veterinarian right away

Before every walk, remember the 7-second test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.
Our dogs trust us to make safe decisions for them. When temperatures climb, choose early morning walks, shaded trails, and plenty of water breaks.
Protect those paws. Prevent heat stroke. Be on the lookout for better canine behavior.
