It is never easy to say goodbye to the horses that have done so much for us.

Merlin, you helped us start the Penn State Equestrian Team at the farm. You’re forever an OG team horse 💙🤍

You taught everyone from walk trot up through open. You had a secret talent as a gymnastic king 👑

You tried our patience being scared of you own shadow, boxes, the fan, the cross ties, the farrier, etc…

You wanted us to hold you like Scooby-Doo when you were unsure

And yet you were the bravest trail horse. You were always first choice for a newbie to ride out past the farm.

You were the one the students could come and cuddle with if they needed to. You loved to be groomed and grazed and loved on.

Sunday was rough - I knew by mid afternoon that I couldn’t leave you. I wanted you have someone by your side as you went onto greener pastures with his lesson buddy Jack. I’m happy I was able to give you a few good years of retirement.

You have left some big horseshoes to fill, rest easy Great Pumpkin 🎃🫶🏼

Piper taught so many kids throughout his life and is now teaching the next generation of horses (photos in comments!) If we could have a barn full of Pipers we'd be GOLDEN 🫶🏼

Lion Country Classic 🦁 brought sunshine, smiles, and great rounds from all of our horses and riders ✨

It takes a village - and ours is fantastic 🤗

Leaving Vermont we had a trailer tire issue (thank goodness we hadn’t made it very far) and Turning Point Equestrian immediately showed up to help. All hands on deck, no questions asked, just straight to work.

Thank you to:
Gabrielle Baker for letting us take her trailer home so horses didn’t have to stay over

Zach Brown and Nathan Glidden (and his girlfriend!) for helping Kristin patch our trailer to limp it back to the horse show

Eric Gretok for coming up the next day to fix the tire and get the trailer back home

Brighid Perkins and Brynne Elyse for taking care of chores at home and holding down the fort

Bill Worthington also deserves a shoutout for picking up the phone immediately and finding some stalls for us while we swapped trucks/trailers and made a game plan.

And lastly… thank you to our horses for all being the most well behaved creatures who unloaded/loaded like absolute champs.

Crap happens and it’s so important to surround yourself with good people and good horses. We couldn’t do any of this alone 💪🏼
