Some of the riders have worked with me for 10 years and it’s so exciting to see how far they’ve come.

I had a lady ask me once, “how did you train her to come back under me when I get out of balance?” She was riding a mare I’d started years before that, which she has bought sometime in the interim.

I explained how I get them listening to that change of balance to indicate a stop. But it was interesting that she’d found even after the mare spooked and caused the rider to get way out of the middle, the mare would then stand.

This is part of riding with signal and balance, Harmony vs disharmony.

Two of Ben's Clinics next week at Equifest next week build on the skills we teach in our On The Trail Horsemanship Clinics.

So many people want to “hit the trail”, but end up having bad experiences because they and their horses aren’t prepared with the right tools and skills. Sometimes, guided trekking can become more about getting from A to B within a set time - than giving horses and riders the time they need to work through challenges and build confidence along the way.

If you are attending then come check out the clinics!
