Finn has made some major breakthroughs over the last few weeks regarding obedience, as well as reactivity! His outbursts have lessened, trust has been built, and he’s now more in tune with his mom as she gives him tasks to do! This week Finn grasped the concept of Send Away To Place, where he has to find the Place Mom is telling him to go even if she’s not standing right next to it. Commanding Finn to go to his Place cot when it’s further away from him will be a huge help at home too! Great work, Finn and Mom!!

Summer fun with your dog can be amazing—but a few simple safety habits make all the difference in keeping things safe, comfortable, and stress-free. ☀️🐾

Here’s a quick guide to the do’s, don’ts, of enjoying time outside with your pup:
✅ DO’S:
🐾 Keep alcoholic drinks out of reach and clean up spills right away
🐾 Provide plenty of fresh, clean water (a non-metal bowl helps keep it cooler)
🐾 Keep dogs away from areas treated with insecticides, herbicides, or fertilizers
🐾 Make sure ID tags are current and microchip info is up to date
🚫 DON’TS:
🐾 Don’t allow dogs near fireworks or leave them unsupervised during fireworks activity
🐾 Don’t shave your dog to try to keep them cool (unless specifically recommended by your vet)
🐾 Don’t let your dog drink pool, lake, or ocean water
🐾 Don’t share BBQ or picnic foods unless they’re specifically prepared for dogs
🚨 NEVER:
🐾 Leave your dog unattended in a parked vehicle without air conditioning—temperatures can become dangerous in minutes

Big Beaux the Goldendoodle was back this week for his second Basic Obedience lesson, and he knocked it out of the park! Before training, Beaux couldn’t focus well for extended periods of time, and his impulse control was lacking. After only 2 sessions, he’s now holding his Sit and Place Commands as his dad backs away from him or until Dad releases him. Beaux even held his Place on his cot when Dad left the room. Outstanding work, fellas!! 💪😎

Welcome to the pack, Clancy!
Clancy is one of several new rescues his human mom is fostering until he receives a permanent home. Mom has been bringing us her new rescues over the past month to teach them basic obedience skills and to give them a foundation for success in their new homes. Clancy is a former stray and needs a major confidence boost as well as manners, but by learning a little bit of structure during his first lesson he became more comfortable and his self confidence began to rise.
