🎤 **Meet the Voice of the Fun Show on Saturday Night!**

Jennifer Barnes wears many hats at the Pekin Saddle Club — and this Saturday, she wore the hat of announcer… and she absolutely nailed it!

It takes a special person to have the patience, energy, and kindness to announce for 12 hours straight, and Jennifer does it so well. She keeps the show running smoothly while making it fun for everyone involved.

Thank you, Jennifer, for all you do for our club! We appreciate you more than you know! 👏💙

We had a very successful Fun Show yesterday! Thank you to everyone who supported the show, rode, or volunteered your time. I believe this was our biggest turnout yet!
I will have points posted on the website and Facebook by Friday, along with information about our planned food trucks for the June 13th show.

Pekin Saddle Club Fun Show Information – Saturday, May 9

Waiver

All riders must have a completed waiver on file before riding. You only need to complete it once for the 2026 season.
Complete your waiver online under the “Fun Shows” section at PekinSaddleClub.com (you can do this now and save time )

Helmets

All riders age 17 and under must wear a helmet in the arena at all times.
Riders who turn 18 after May 9 may still compete in Youth classes, but helmets are still required in all youth events.
Prize Categories

There will be four prize categories this year:

Youth Barrels
Youth Poles
Open Barrels
Open Poles
Membership & Nominations

To compete for prizes, riders must be members of Pekin Saddle Club and pay a One time nomination fee.
Memberships and renewals can be completed online at PekinSaddleClub.com under Memberships.

Nomination fee: $10 per rider/horse combination
Riders may nominate multiple horses
Nomination fees are one-time only per horse/rider combination
Entry Limits

For all events, the same horse and rider combination may compete a maximum of two times per event.

Sign-Up Sheets

The Fun Show sign-up sheet has been posted online. Feel free to print it and mark your events ahead of time.

Arena opens for warmups: 10:30 AM
Show starts: 12:00 PM
Parking Information

This year’s parking arrangements are as follows:

Members with campsites should park at their designated campsite.
Trucks with trailers must enter through the main entrance and park in the field behind the clubhouse.
Cars and trucks without trailers should enter and park via the west side entrance.
All vehicles should exit through the east side entrance.
Parking details and the map are also available on the website under “Fun Show.”

Food & Concessions

Food trucks for Saturday, May 9:

11:00 AM – 5:00 PM: Spudbank
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM: BBQ Cowboy
A basic concession stand will also be available inside the clubhouse, with proceeds benefiting the club.

We are asking all members to please refrain from using the arena until Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Larry has worked the arena to help it drain in preparation for the overnight showers expected on Friday. We want to ensure the arena is in the best possible condition for Saturday.

Our fun shows involve many behind-the-scenes members who make things happen. I want to give a special shout-out to Club President Larry Chilman. He has likely spent over 40 hours this year ensuring everything is prepared! Today, he's replacing some benches that need repair. Larry is often the one on the tractor, so if you see him on Saturday, be sure to thank him!

Please remember to complete our online waiver if you plan to attend any show this year! It must be completed before you can compete and takes 2 minutes or less :) Save time by doing it now!

Update on fun show concessions:

Our concessions leader has informed us that she is unable to serve as chair of the concession committee this year. In order to keep the promise of in-house concessions that the members voted on, Ally is taking on the position for just the show this Saturday. Ally is requesting that members sign up for time slots to help share the workload, as she already has her hands full running the shows.

If you sign up for a time and wish to watch someone perform during that slot, we have a "concession stand floater" available to fill in for you, so you won’t miss out.

Future "in-house concessions", for June through September, will be discussed at the May meeting this Friday starting at 7:30pm. We didn't want to cancel the in-house concessions for May since it was short notice.

If anyone is interested in taking over as Concessions Chair, please make that known at Friday's meeting. If no one steps up, we will continue for the rest of the year with just food trucks at the shows.

Our food truck lineup for Saturday, May 9th:

- 11am to 5pm: Spudbank
- 5pm to 7 p.m.: BBQ Cowboy

Additionally, there will be a basic concession stand inside the clubhouse, with all proceeds going back to the club.

Fun Show Parking

This year, we're implementing some changes to the parking arrangements:
- Members with campsites are kindly asked to park at their designated campsite to free up spaces for non-members.
- Trucks with trailers should use only the main entrance and park in the usual area, the field behind the clubhouse.
- Cars and trucks without trailers must enter and park via the west side entrance.
- Everyone should exit through the east side entrance.
