Hero
Remembering Rifleman Randolph H. Harvin of Detroit, Michigan. This true American hero sacrificed his life for ours. During WWII, Randolph volunteered to join the U.S. Army but was turned down due to an enlarged heart, despite his conditions, it doesn't stop his determination to serve.
He then volunteered for the Canadian Army and was accepted. One of his older brothers was serving in the US Army and his younger brother was in the US Coast Guard. Randolph became a member of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles but was ordered to join the Calgary Highlanders and went overseas to liberate Europe. During the deadly Battle for Caen (Normandy), he showed incredible courage and fought heroically....until August 1, 1944. On that fateful day, Randolph was struck by enemy fire and died at the age of 20. This true American hero was laid to rest at the Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery in Normandy.
Thank you so much for your service and sacrifice Randolph. You'll never be forgotten! ππΊπΈ
