I have had many family dogs over the years. Each was amazing, a different breed, different needs, wants, different loves. This dog is the most special for me. Last year I had an unexpected litter of puppies. We tried so hard to get a rescue to take the mom, we found one, but momma couldn't wait & decided she was having her pups here. I never experienced a birth of a litter of puppies. It was incredible to witness and be a part of. An experience I will NEVER FORGET. Having these pups, I knew I had to make sure we raised them right considering they're a "bully" or should I say "bullied" breed. This type of looking dog has such a stereotype, many people take one look and are afraid or immediately think that dog must be "aggressive".
From the moment they were born I made sure these pups were socialized and properly exposed to everything to help with their social skills and confidence. My staff, family, kids, friends, all started holding them, I made sure to touch their toes and ears every day, we even started clipping their nails very young. I made sure they didn't develop any food aggression. They started learning rules, boundaries, respect, and discipline at a young age. Most of all, they all got love. I was not expecting to have a puppy in my home since I already had 2 senior dogs, 3 kids including a toddler. How could I not keep one of these puppies from my very first experience with a litter?! I said we are not keeping her because she is the coolest looking puppy. I am picking the best temperament and fit for our family. I picked her, I named her Amina, meaning honest & trustworthy. I wanted her to be a part of my advocating for these bullied breeds. I make sure I take her everywhere I can. EVERYONE who meets her absolutely adores her. She is so friendly and outgoing, she just wants attention and to give kisses. I love this dog so much it hurts.
