As staff appreciation week continues, yesterday we reflected on the acts of appreciation our clients have so generously shown to our PPVC family over the years. We are so incredibly lucky to have a community that makes our team feel as loved and appreciated as you do!

Whether it's a simple thank-you at the end of an appointment, a sweet handwritten card, a thoughtful review, a special shout-out to one of our staff members, or a surprise treat for the office, please know that your kindness never goes unnoticed!

Something you may not know is that when you leave us a kind review or take the time to recognize someone on our team, we share those words with the entire office! We love celebrating each other, and hearing that we've made a difference for you and your furry, feathered, or scaly family members is one of the greatest rewards of what we do.
During a week dedicated to celebrating our staff, it feels especially important to recognize the people who make our jobs so rewarding.
Thank you for the kind words, the smiles, and most importantly, the trust you place in us to care for the pets you love so much.
We truly have some of the best clients around, and we hope you know that the appreciation goes both ways!

You make our days brighter, our smiles bigger, and our clinic feel a whole lot more like family.

With full hearts,
Your PPVC Family 💕

🐢🦎 A LITTLE SPOTLIGHT ON ONE OF OUR OWN!🐍💚

We're excited to share that PPVC's very own Dr. Stefan Baker will be joining the Beast Pets Market Place by Asylum on November 28th!

If you know Dr. Baker, you know his passion for reptiles, amphibians, and all things scaly runs deep! From the tiniest geckos to some pretty impressive crocodilians, his dedication to these incredible animals extends far beyond the walls of our clinic.

We're incredibly proud to have a veterinarian who is not only passionate about his patients but also so dedicated to education, conservation, and giving back to the animals he loves.

Way to represent PPVC, Dr. Baker!

Be sure to check out the original post for all the event details, and give Dr.Stefan Baker some love in the comments! 💚

🍄 THERE’S A FUNGUS AMONG US… and it could be lethal! 🍄

With all of the warm, wet weather, wild mushrooms can seem to pop up overnight in yards, parks, wooded areas, and along your favorite walking routes. Unfortunately, some mushrooms found right here in Michigan can be seriously toxic or even fatal to pets.

If you see mushrooms where your pets spend time:

Check your yard regularly and remove mushrooms promptly.
Keep pets from sniffing, licking, or eating unknown mushrooms.
On walks, keep a close eye on curious noses and practice a good “leave it!”
Never assume a mushroom is safe based on appearance or a phone identification app alone.

🚨 Think your pet ate a mushroom? Don’t wait for symptoms. Some toxins can cause illness quickly, while others may not cause noticeable signs for 6–24 hours or longer. Contact a veterinarian or emergency veterinary hospital immediately.

📸 Helpful tip: Take clear photos of the mushroom—including the cap, underside/gills, stem, base, and where it was growing—and safely collect a sample if possible.

For help identifying an unknown mushroom or plant, the Facebook group “Poisons Help: Emergency Identification for Mushrooms & Plants” can also be a helpful identification resource. Remember, identification assistance should never delay veterinary care if ingestion is suspected.

🍄 When in doubt, keep those curious noses away!
