I ask for your patience and cooperation—not only with our staff, but with everyone involved in veterinary medicine.

We are experiencing a true shortage of veterinarians, and the future of animal care could be in jeopardy if we do not work together to address this growing challenge.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, especially during times when we may be unable to open, have last-minute schedule changes, shorter hours, or longer wait times due to staff shortages.

As a veterinarian and practice owner, I am doing my best to inspire future generations and guide them toward the right path within veterinary medicine. We offer shadowing opportunities, externships, and other experiences that allow students to see what we do “behind the scenes.”

As a parent, I also do everything I can to teach my children the importance of education and pursuing their passions—even if they do not ultimately choose a career in veterinary medicine.

I ask everyone to please be patient, understanding, and kind—not only to veterinary professionals, but to everyone working hard to care for the animals we all love. The future of veterinary medicine depends on inspiring and supporting the next generation.

According to a 2024 study, the U.S .will need 70,092 new veterinarians by 2032. Only about 52,926 students are expected to graduate from veterinary programs in that time — meeting just 76% of demand.

Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD) in Dogs 🦟

Flea allergy dermatitis is a common allergic skin condition caused by hypersensitivity to proteins in flea saliva. Even a small number of flea bites can trigger intense itching in susceptible dogs.

🔹 What happens?
Flea bites → salivary allergens enter the skin → hypersensitivity reaction → severe itching → scratching, licking and chewing → skin inflammation and self-trauma.

🔹 Common signs include:
• Redness (erythema)
• Small raised bumps (papules)
• Pustules
• Crusts/scabs
• Excoriations from scratching
• Hair loss (alopecia)
• Secondary bacterial infection in damaged skin

📌 Important: Effective flea control for the affected dog and all pets in the household, along with environmental flea control when necessary, is essential for managing FAD.
