Scapular Balancing??? This is one of the many things that I learned about in my studies of sports medicine acupuncture. Almost without question, when someone comes in with neck or shoulder pain, a quick peek at their back usually reveals lopsided scapulas such as this. Left unattended, this imbalance will not only inhibit a successful treatment but will ultimately continue to aggravate their condition. After a couple of acupuncture treatments, I have found that when the scapulas start to level out, their neck and shoulder pain also begins to subside.

Am supercharged from a much needed 3-day vacation in Shasta and am ready to tackle the week. And what's on tap for this week? My first ever reining show:

Located at the Horse Park at Woodside, this reining competition offers over $175,000 in added prize money and lots of prizes. Reminiscent of the previous Reining by the Bay, the Woodside Slide offers all the fun, great food, great people and incredible reining competition.

Periscapular pain (pain around and between the scapula) is a common complaint that might cause someone to seek treatment. Its causes can range from muscle strain and myospasm, pain that is referred down from neck pathologies like cervical facet joint issues, and referred pain from pathologies of the interscalene triangle. Not only does periscapular pain cause distress and discomfort, but its causes can also often lead to bigger issues in the future.
