We want to let our customers know about a change to our store hours.

Due to the current challenges facing small businesses, we’ve made the difficult decision to close on Sundays for the time being.

Tomorrow, Sunday, August 23rd, will be our first Sunday that we are closed.

🛠️ Renovations Are Still Happening! 🐠

Our renovations are still moving along here at The Pet Department! We’ve recently moved a couple of our saltwater tanks, and they are currently being cycled and getting everything ready to be stocked back up. 🌊🐟

We know times are tough right now, and we want to be completely honest with our customers. Keeping everything in stock has been very difficult, but we are doing everything we can to keep the essentials available and continue serving our community.

One thing we are really relying on right now is special orders. If there’s something you need that we don’t currently have in the store, please ask us! We can special order many items and will do our best to get you what you need.

We’re working hard to keep the doors open, make improvements to the store, and continue providing the best service we can. We truly appreciate everyone who continues to shop with us, supports us, and understands that we’re doing the best we can during some challenging times. ❤️

🔨 WE’RE LOOKING FOR SCRAP LUMBER! 🪵

The Pet Department is currently looking for 2x6 lumber pieces that are at least 32 inches long. Longer pieces are perfectly fine!

We’re in the process of moving one of our metal racks to a new area of the store and making it much longer, so we need some additional lumber to complete the project.

We’re primarily looking for 2x6s, but we can also make use of 2x8s, 2x10s, 2x12s, or even a good supply of 2x4s if you have them available.

We don’t care what they look like! Painted, unpainted, weathered, stained, or otherwise not pretty is completely fine. We just need the lumber to be solid and sturdy—nothing that is completely dry-rotted, rotten, or falling apart.

If you have leftover or scrap lumber sitting around that you’d like to put to good use, we’d love to take it off your hands! You can call us at 805-239-4555 or send us a message through Facebook Messenger. If you’re nearby, you’re also welcome to drop it off at the store during our regular business hours.

We’ve heard about the current cricket shortage, but don’t worry — The Pet Department in Paso Robles currently has crickets available!

We regularly receive fresh shipments every week and work hard to keep feeder insects available for your reptiles, amphibians, and other insect-eating pets.

Our largest cricket size may be limited right now, but we do have crickets available while supplies last!

🪳 Looking for Dubia Roaches?
We are working on getting Dubia Roaches back in stock! Due to the excessive heat, our supplier is temporarily holding shipments until temperatures are safe to ensure the insects arrive healthy and in good condition. We appreciate your patience and will have them available again as soon as possible.

🐭 Don’t forget — we also carry feeder rodents!
We have live feeder mice and rats, as well as frozen feeder options, available for your reptile’s needs.
