💧🐾 Is Your Pet Getting Enough Water? 🐾💧

Whether you're spending the day on a boat, at the river, or by the pool, water activities can be a great way to enjoy the summer together. Taking a few extra precautions can help keep your pet safe while having fun in and around the water.

Here are a few important water safety tips:

🦺 Consider a properly fitted life jacket, even for pets that know how to swim.

☀️ Provide plenty of fresh water and shade to help prevent dehydration and heat-related illnesses.

🎆 Fireworks Are Fun for People, but Not Always for Pets 🎆

With Independence Day right around the corner, now is the time to start preparing your pets for the sounds and stress that fireworks can bring.

Many pets experience anxiety during fireworks displays, which can lead to:
🐾 Pacing or trembling
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Hiding
🐾 Vocalizing
🐾 Destructive behavior
🐾 Attempts to escape

If your pet has a history of noise anxiety, don't wait until the fireworks start. Prescription medications and other calming options are often most effective when planned ahead of time.

📞 Contact your primary veterinarian or our team before the holiday if you think your pet may benefit from anti-anxiety medication or a calming plan.

🎉📦 Happy Inventory Manager Appreciation Day, Irene! 📦🎉

Last week, we celebrated someone whose hard work behind the scenes helps keep Mid-Columbia Pet Emergency running smoothly every single day, our Inventory Manager, Irene, AVA!

Irene joined our team in 2022, as a Veterinary Assistant and has continued to grow both personally and professionally throughout her journey with us. Through her dedication and commitment to veterinary medicine, she advanced to become an Approved Veterinary Assistant before stepping into her current role as Inventory Manager in July 2025.

Since taking on this position, Irene has played a vital role in ensuring our hospital has the supplies, medications, equipment, and resources needed to provide exceptional patient care. Her organization, attention to detail, and proactive approach help ensure our doctors, LVT's, and support staff have what they need to care for our patients when it matters most.

While inventory management often happens behind the scenes, its impact is felt throughout the entire hospital every day. Irene's hard work helps keep our operations running efficiently and allows our team to focus on delivering the best possible care to pets and their families.
