Pets by Sorrell Animal portraits in studio and in the wild, Los Angeles. Hi, I'm Sorrell. I've been a pet owner all my life. That's why I created Pets by Sorrell.

Currently, I live in Los Angeles with my two rescues, Bruce and Eddy. I understand that our pets are our family and believe we should celebrate their spirit through fine photography. So that every pet owner can have an affordable, everlasting memory to hang on the wall and share with friends and family. My style is relaxed and my goal is to make your shoot day fun and easy. I started a project called Q***rantine in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown. Its a series of portraits taken outside people’s homes within the lgbtq+ community. It is so important to show wholesomeness within the q***r community a as part of the archive!

I did some work for the DAY BEFORE lockdown! And I’m so excited to finally be able to share these beautiful faces with you all!

Not only does The Pasadena Humane Society have puppies and kittens, but they also have lizards, turtles, chinchillas, guinea pigs, SNAKES, baby squirrels, bunnies you name it!

So many animals are found in LA county without chips or tags. Pasadena humane society takes such good care of these animals until they find their forever homes. I’ve seen this place first hand! We shot all of these images on site. And all the staff legitimately LOVE animals and most of them have their own adopted pets front PHS!

But there are SO many animals that still need homes. If you are looking to adopt, check out there website pasadenahumane.org to see what’s available. If you can’t adopt but want to support please donate to keep this wonderful place in business.

Over 4000 protesters have been arrested in the US over the past few days. Please consider donating to the , , or especially if you are a white person. As white people we need to step up. There are tons of resources out there to help white people be anti-racist . Just do a google search. Seriously. It’s so easy. Just stop asking Black people to help. They don’t need to take on that responsibility right now.

I tried to hold off posting about Christmas, but I am just too dang excited about this event!

New California Barbershop is hosting a pop-up Xmas pet portrait day Sunday December 8th with me Pets by Sorrell!!

Come get a haircut and then get a pet portrait with Santa! (sorry pets only! In case you don't celebrate xmas but there will be options for those of you that celebrate Hanukkah! I got you boos😘💙)

This event will be by donation ($20 minimum) and all proceeds will be going to The REAL Bark in Echo Park. A 501c3 non-profit organization that helps dogs find forever homes. That means for them to exist they rely heavily on donations. I will be accepting cash or Venmo only at the event.

PLUS! Everyone will receive select digital images from this shoot via email in the following week after the event! Basically it's a two-bird situation at a steal of a price! AND you get to feel good knowing that what you donate is literally helping these dogs survive!

I don't know about you, but I cherish my awkward baby pics on Santa's lap from childhood!🤣

“The photographs we take to document ourselves and our fur family almost exclusively exist on instagram or in the cloud.

As q***rs, le****ns, bipoc, and indigneous folks we often lack access to the luxury of a family portrait. But as the story-tellers of our past, present and future we have an investment in keeping our embodied familial stories alive. When we document our family and our stories, we become our own archive makers and as such the q***r archive is always alive with the the possibility of transformation. Documenting our pet family isn't necessarily new, but having a q***r pet family portrait is an innovative and generative opportunity to celebrate how our cats and dogs become essential to our q***r family fabric.”
