Living in Houston we all know it's hot outside! Aside from the general heat did you know that walking your dog mid-day can burn their paws? We can use shoes to insulate our feet but dogs don't have that advantage. A good way to test if it's safe to take you dog for a walk is to place your hand on the pavement for a couple minutes to see if you can handle it. If you're hand is burning after a couple minutes imagine going on a 30 min walk! Ouch!
One other thing to watch out for is truck beds. Most are sprayed with a black liner that traps heat from above as well as engine heat that vents under the truck. I've seen people at the dog park put their pet in the bed and they immediately start "dancing" from the heat trying to give their feet minimal contact.
Just a couple things to be aware of to keep your pet happy and healthy!

Just to clear up a couple things we've received questions about:
All of our walks are solo walks meaning no other dogs expert for the ones you own will be walked together in a group.
We can absolutely walk dogs that live in apartments, they will just be evening walks or weekends.

Our dogs are part of our family and everyone likes to go catch a meal with the fam!
If you're in the mood for a fun spot stop by Happy Fatz for gourmet hog dogs (the Clucker is amazing!) and in house homemade desserts. Summer has arrived in Houston, and it is hot! Here is a simple and quick recipe for Peanut Butter Pup-sicles to help your dog beat the heat:

1 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 ripe banana
Roughly 1 tbsp raw unfiltered local honey
Water for consistency

Mash the banana in a bowl then add the peanut butter and honey. Mix everything together and add small amounts of water until the mixture no longer holds its form while stirring. (Think more goopy rather than firm). Spoon the mix into an ice cube tray then freeze for a few hours, possibly overnight depending on your freezer. Once they are ready just pop one out and watch your dog enjoy!

(Obviously, if your dog has a nut allergy you might not want to make these for them.)

Welcome to Doggy Dash! We are all about the happiness of your pet, and want to ensure their contentment through exercise and a clean yard.

It has been proven that troubled dogs who act out in the home are probably not getting adequate exercise. Dogs need to get out and burn off excess energy, while exploring their surroundings through scent, in order for them to be happy. If you aren't able to give your dog the exercise they need, give us a call! We offer dog walks and runs in the following amounts:

30 Minute Walk - $15
30 Minute Run - $20
45 Minute Walk - $25
45 Minute Run - $35
60 Minute Walk - $39

These amounts include 2 dogs, each additional dog is $5.

Cleanliness is also important to your dog. With noses 10,000 times more sensitive than our own a smelly yard is just as much an inconvenience for them as it is for us. Not to mention the possibility of tracking messes into the house on paws, and not being able to use your yard space due to unsightly messes or smell. No one likes to deal with dog p**p, but we can help! We offer p**p scooping service for 2 dogs at $10 per yard. Each additional pet is $5. We use a fresh bag at each house so you never need to worry about cross contamination. We will walk your yard in a grid pattern scooping all p**p as we see it, then we will walk it a second time to make sure there is nothing we missed. A once a week cleaning will make a huge difference in how you use your yard!
