We hold ourselves to high standards of ethics, honesty, and the best, most humane medical practices. unity. We are passionate about open communication with owners, and operate in a fashion of translucency with regards to the treatment of your pet. We pledge to listen, and also share, every step of the way. This includes doing examinations, blood work, and procedures in front of you, as we feel this elevates both your and your pet’s level of comfort and awareness. In those small situations where patients behave better away from their owners, we can accommodate those needs. This philosophy also applies to the cost of care, which we pride ourselves on conveying upfront and honestly!

Baby season is here — and not every baby animal needs rescuing. 🐣🦌🐿️

Before stepping in: observe first. help second.

WHEN TO HELP:
• Injured or bleeding
• Cold, weak, or covered in flies
• Parent confirmed dead nearby
• In immediate danger
• Caught by a cat or dog

WHEN TO WALK AWAY:
• Fawns resting quietly alone
• Feathered fledgling birds on the ground
• Baby rabbits alone in a nest

“Alone” does not always mean abandoned. Wild parents often leave babies hidden while they search for food.

If you’re unsure, contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator before intervening. ❤️

Warmer weather is finally here — and so are seasonal allergies for many dogs. 🌼🐶

If your pup is scratching, licking their paws, shaking their ears, or has irritated skin, allergies could be the cause. Common triggers like pollen, grass, and mold tend to flare up this time of year.

The good news? We have several options to help keep your dog comfortable, including:
🐾 Cytopoint injections
🐾 Allergy medications like Apoquel or Zenrelia
🐾 Medicated shampoos and sprays
🐾 Flea prevention and ear care

If your dog is showing signs of allergies, give us a call to discuss the best treatment plan for them!

💙 Cone of Shame (or Surgery Suit) 💙

Binx, is definitely not thrilled about his post-op fashion choice… the dramatic expression says it all 😼

While they may not be impressed right now, the cone/surgery suit is doing an important job—protecting the incision so healing can happen safely and smoothly.

It’s very important to keep it on until your vet gives the okay to remove it, even if your pet gives you the “how could you do this to me” look in the meantime.

And on a lighter note… I truly hope Binx forgives me for sharing these photos and doesn’t plan any revenge 😅🐾

They may not be happy today, but they’ll definitely thank you later when they’re feeling better and back to their normal self 💛

🐾 Why Pet Insurance Isn’t Optional Anymore (It’s Essential!)

Our pets are family—and just like any family member, their health can take an unexpected turn. From accidents to illnesses, vet bills can easily reach thousands of dollars in a single visit.

💡 That’s where pet insurance comes in.
It helps cover major medical expenses, giving you peace of mind so you can focus on what matters most—your pet’s recovery, not the cost.

🐶 Why it matters:
✔️ Protects you from unexpected, high vet bills
✔️ Gives access to better treatment options
✔️ Helps you make decisions based on care—not cost
✔️ Can even include perks like tele-vet services or wellness coverage

🏆 Top 5 Pet Insurance Companies of 2026:

Prudent Pet – Best overall coverage & value
Pets Best – Great for direct vet payments & affordability
Spot – Strong all-around coverage with extra benefits
Figo – Flexible plans with unique add-ons
ASPCA Pet Health Insurance – Trusted brand with comprehensive options

❤️ At the end of the day, pet insurance isn’t just about money—it’s about being prepared. 📸 Keep your pets smiling like Stanley here, and make sure both your furry friend and your wallet are protected! 🐕

A couple of weeks ago, one of our favorite patients, Comet, gave us quite the scare 💙🐾

He had to undergo emergency surgery after swallowing something he shouldn’t have. Thanks to quick action and a watchful family, Comet is now back home and continuing his recovery—and we couldn’t be happier to see him feeling more like himself again.

Situations like this can happen fast, so it’s important to know the warning signs of a possible foreign body (something stuck in the stomach or intestines):
• Repeated vomiting or retching
• Loss of appetite
• Lethargy or unusual tiredness
• Abdominal pain (hiding, vocalizing, or sensitivity when picked up)
• Diarrhea or trouble passing stool

If your pet shows any of these symptoms—or you even suspect they got into something they shouldn’t—don’t wait. Early care can make all the difference.

Everyone, please drop some love and send Comet some prayers for his continued recovery—he is a warrior 🐱💫💙

🐾 What’s a Healthy Weight for Your Labrador Retriever? 🐾

Labradors are lovable, active, and… often a little too enthusiastic about food. Keeping them at a healthy weight is one of the best things you can do for their long-term health.

So, what’s “ideal”?
✔️ Most adult Labradors should weigh:

55–70 lbs for females
65–80 lbs for males

But numbers aren’t everything! Body shape matters just as much.

Signs your Lab is at a healthy weight:
✅ You can feel (but not see) their ribs without pressing hard
✅ They have a visible waist when viewed from above
✅ Their abdomen tucks up when viewed from the side

When is a Lab considered overweight?
⚠️ Ribs are difficult to feel under fat
⚠️ No visible waist (their body looks more oval-shaped)
⚠️ Reduced energy, reluctance to exercise, or heavy panting

Even a few extra pounds can increase the risk of joint problems, heart disease, and diabetes.

How to help your Lab stay fit:
🥗 Measure meals (no free feeding!)
🎾 Daily exercise—Labs thrive on activity
🍖 Limit treats and opt for healthy alternatives

If you’re unsure about your dog’s weight, we’re here to help! Schedule a wellness check and let’s keep your Lab happy, active, and thriving. 💛
