Unfortunately, we have some heartbreaking news to share.
Our beloved therapy python, Zara, has unexpectedly passed away. 💔
While we are still trying to understand exactly what happened, we believe she may have been suffering from an infection that unfortunately spread throughout her body.
Zara was our first snake at Parkton animal oasis and she was so, so loved by so many people who had the opportunity to meet her. She was especially loved by the children and even babies who got to experience just how sweet and gentle she was. She was truly a superstar here at the Oasis not only because she was beautiful, but because of how incredibly sweet, smart, calm, and handleable she was with everyone she met.
But to our lead tour guide and manager, Abbie, Zara was so much more than a therapy animal. She was her personal pet and a huge part of her life. Abbie loved Zara deeply and spent countless hours working with her, building her trust, teaching her, and helping her become the amazing, gentle snake that so many of you came to know and love.
Zara touched so many lives, and we are incredibly grateful for every person who loved her, held her, took a picture with her, or simply got to meet her. She will be missed more than words can explain.
If you have any pictures or memories with Zara—the super sweet yellow snake with the little black freckles—please share them in the comments below. We would absolutely love to see them and fill the comments with all of the wonderful memories you have of her.
Rest peacefully, sweet Zara. You were one of a kind, and you will never be forgotten. 🐍🌈❤️
