I’m starting a new six-week Introduction to K9 Nose Work® class in Parker. This beginner-friendly scent activity allows dogs to search, problem-solve, and use one of their most powerful natural abilities.

Nose Work can help build confidence, encourage independent thinking, improve focus, and strengthen communication between you and your dog. Most importantly, it is a lot of fun for both of you!

No previous Nose Work experience is needed, and dogs of different ages, breeds, and sizes are welcome.

🎆 Fireworks season is coming - and this year may be louder than usual.

With the 250th anniversary celebrations, many neighborhoods are already experiencing more fireworks, earlier fireworks, and more random booms.

For many dogs, fireworks can be stressful, scary, and overwhelming. But there is a lot you can do to help.

One of the biggest myths I still hear is:
“If I comfort my dog when they’re scared, I reinforce the fear.”

That is simply not true.

You cannot reinforce the feeling of fear.
But you CAN help your dog feel safer.

Fear is an emotion, not a choice.

When your dog is scared, your support matters. Comfort, safety, and thoughtful management can make a huge difference.

A few things you can start doing right now:

✔ Start preparing early
✔ Create a safe retreat area in your home
✔ Close curtains and windows to reduce noise and flashes
✔ Use white noise, TV, or fans
✔ Talk to your vet early if medication or supplements may help

You can also use early booms as training opportunities if your dog is still under threshold.

Boom → treat
Boom → scatter feeding
Boom → sniff game

The goal is simple:
Help your dog learn that noise can predict good things.

And just as important, here’s what NOT to do:

✘ Punish fear behaviors
✘ Force exposure
✘ Drag your dog outside during fireworks
✘ Take your dog to fireworks events

Supporting your dog builds trust. ❤️

I’m very excited to officially share that I am now a Fear Free Certified® Animal Trainer. 🐾

This certification feels especially meaningful to me because it reflects how I believe dogs deserve to be trained, handled, and supported.

At dreamlike4paws, my work has always been about more than training skills.

It is about reducing fear, anxiety, and stress, building confidence, and strengthening the relationship between dogs and their humans.

This philosophy has always been at the heart of my work, which makes this certification very special to me.

I’m grateful to continue learning and growing so I can better support dogs and their humans.

🐾 New K9 Nose Work® Classes Starting in Parker! 🐾

One of my favorite things about teaching Nose Work is watching dogs discover just how capable they are.

I’ve seen shy dogs become more confident, busy dogs learn to focus, and handlers realize their dogs have talents they never knew existed.

Whether you’re brand new to the sport or ready for the next step, I have two upcoming classes starting soon:

🐾 Introduction to K9 Nose Work®
Starting July 13 at 5:30 PM

This 6-week beginner class is designed for teams with no previous Nose Work experience. We’ll build hunting skills through fun searches and games while helping dogs develop confidence, independence, and problem-solving skills.

🐾 Continue K9 Nose Work®
Starting July 9 at 5:30 PM

This ongoing practice class is for teams already searching for birch odor and who have completed an Introduction to Odor class. We’ll continue developing search skills, work in new environments, introduce new challenges, and help both dogs and handlers become more confident and independent.

Nose Work is one of the few sports where every dog can succeed at their own pace - whether they’re young, senior, shy, busy, or simply love to use their nose.

🐾🍻 Denver-area women in business - come join us for a fun, dog-friendly summer networking evening at Littleton Brew Co on June 2nd at 5:30 PM!

Dogs are welcome (but not required 😉), and there’ll be drinks, networking, swag bags, and lots of dog-loving people. I’ll also be there if anyone wants to ask training questions, chat dogs, or maybe even see a little Nose Work demo if time allows 🐶

I’m excited to once again team up with Diane Ross - and you can now reserve your spot through my website.

So… what is Canine Trailing?

Canine trailing teaches your dog to use their natural scenting ability to follow the unique scent of a specific person through real-life environments and successfully locate them.

It’s fun, mentally enriching, confidence-building, and often incredibly empowering for both dog and handler. It can help dogs learn to work independently, solve problems, build resilience, and strengthen the partnership with their human.
