🎆 DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE FIREWORKS START! 🎆
The Fourth of July can be one of the most stressful and dangerous holidays of the year for pets. Loud fireworks, visitors, travel, and changes in routine can cause severe anxiety—and many scared pets run away.
Now is the time to plan ahead:
✅ Make sure your pet is microchipped
✅ Check that your pet's collar and ID tag have current contact information
✅ Keep pets indoors during fireworks
✅ Create a quiet, comfortable space away from noise
✅ Use calming tools such as ThunderShirts, white noise, fans, calming music, or a covered crate
✅ For cats, consider Feliway or a quiet room with food, water, litter box, and hiding spots
If your dog or cat has noise phobia, panic, shaking, hiding, destructive behavior, or extreme stress during storms or fireworks, call your veterinarian today to discuss anti-anxiety medication. (If you call our office for medications, a physical exam is required, so better to plan ahead!)
⏰ Don't wait. Many medications work best when started before the fireworks begin—not after your pet is already panicking.
A little preparation now can prevent a holiday emergency later.
