Meet Nova 🐾 — A Diamond in the Ruff
Nova is a 6-year-old Anatolian mix who's ready to find her forever home, and she just needs someone willing to look past first impressions.
Here's the truth: kennel life is hard on Nova. She doesn't hide it well, and it can make her come across as standoffish or even a little grumpy to folks passing by. But that's not who she is — it's just stress talking. Take the time to say hello, and you'll meet one of the sweetest, most affectionate girls in our shelter. She just needs a chance to show you.
A few things to know about Nova:
She's looking for a home where she can be the only pet — she loves people deeply and wants all the attention for herself
She'd do best in a home without small children, as she needs adults who understand and respect her boundaries
Because kennels aren't her favorite (and PetSmart events can be a lot for her), we ask that meet-and-greets with Nova happen right here at our shelter, where she can relax and truly be herself
She's spayed, microchipped, and fully up to date on vaccines and preventatives
Nova isn't asking for much — just someone patient enough to meet her where she is. If that's you, we'd love to introduce you.

LAST UPDATE: We feel that the difference in opinion on how the shelter should be ran has significantly impacted our ability to provide care to the animals. PAWS has provided all vaccinations and preventatives, veterinary and behavioral care, adoption and rescue outlets, support staff at the Carlisle location, toys, as well support for cleaning and food supplies for the animals since 2017.

Due to the disconnect between our organization and the county, we feel we are unable to currently continue our relationship.

We understand the frustration and worries the community has and urge those to speak with the county. We will still provide spay and neuter services to the community through our website as usual.

Thank you to everyone that has reached out. An official has reached out and we will be having a meeting this week with the county to discuss our future relationship.

Rosita has been waiting for her forever home for a LONG time. 🐺💔
She's a 3-year-old husky, which means she's dramatic, talkative, and yes, a certified escape artist. She means it. Fences are more of a suggestion. But every time she breaks out, she's really just looking for you, and you keep not showing up.
Here's what you need to know:
🐾 Does well with other dogs after proper introductions
🐾 Doesn't mind cats
🐾 Takes her time with new people, but once she trusts you, she's loyal for life
🐾 Not a fit for homes with very small children, since she needs her space
She's tired of waiting, and honestly, so are we. Could you be the one with the secure fence? 😉

This sweet 3-year-old Australian Shepherd mix weighs 42 pounds and is fully convinced she's a lap dog. She'll happily run and play with you all day, then curl up right on top of you when it's time to rest.

Ellie Mae is spayed, microchipped, and current on all vaccines and preventatives, so she's ready to go home.

A note on her ideal home: she doesn't do well with chickens, and she thinks kitties are way too much fun to play with, so a home without cats or chickens is best.
