It’s important to be told you’re wrong- but know the source

My teachers often correct me. I spend as much time as possible with them, and am often finding my basics lacking or needing a tune up. Sometimes I find I’ve gone in the wrong direction with a horse or with a training theory, or misinterpreted it’s meaning.

Over the years I look back at some of the work I’ve done and realize in hind sight it’s been with the right intention but wrong result-
What I meant to do isn’t what happened, and my teachers were trying to tell me.

You need someone to keep you in check- if you can’t hear criticism from the people you admire and aspire to be like most, who can you hear it from?

The source is important - I probably get criticism daily. Being available to the public and online means that the thoughts and opinions of many are hurled at me with some frequency. You can’t go off the rails for every source of criticism out there or you won’t make a single step forward-
So find a source you trust, and get good at taking criticism, and ignoring what isn’t there to help you. There’s a big difference between criticism designed to make you grow, and an opinion designed to make someone feel bigger.

Here's a few videos put together of our ride by the little book cliffs HMA on BLM outside of the herd area. We want to go back and do some more exploring in this area. There are such cool rock formations out there!

Took Sailor and Feather on a long ride to check cows. It's a big climb out of there too. He was pretty tired when he got back home.
