Wonderful experience, we highly recommend ABC Training Kennels! We thought about training for our dog ever since we got him as a puppy, and finally got around to taking action when he was a little over a year. Bubba is big, high energy and has selective listening. He knew a few commands, but only listened half the time and only to certain people. Our hope was that we could get him to be more consistent and to rein in his hyperactivity. By the end of our sessions we had that and so much more! Bubba was difficult to walk as he pulled and tried to greet every person or other dog we saw. We did not expect the sessions we booked to fix this, but they did. By the last session we had him out at Cabela’s, following commands and walking with little supervision. He stayed in his path and didn’t try to follow any people he came across. We sat outside at the end and he stayed in place as everyone walked by. We never imagined this would be possible given his previous behavior. At home Bubba has improved so much as well. We are still working on things, but his improvement is drastic. Akin taught us so many skills and techniques to continue to train him. He is not perfect, but with what we know now we can continue to work with him help him reach his full potential. Thanks.

I had used Akin in the past with my last dog but after waiting five years to get another puppy, I choose a different trainer as I wanted the puppy to learn socialization skills along with basis obedience skills to grow up to be a happy, obedient member of our family. However, after 7 weeks, I knew this was a bad choice for me and my German Shepherd puppy Bandit and I contacted Akin. I choose the Foundation Obedience Training as I liked what it had to offer and being done at home was a plus. Akin is very compassionate about his training and he not only trains the dog, he trains the humans as well. I can't thank him enough! This is my Bandit, who Akin called "Ban Ban".😊

"I found Nebraska Hundesport Club in the fall of 2017. I had heard of Schutzhund (now known as IGP) and wanted to give it a try when I moved back to Omaha from Portland, OR. I found Akin to be a patient and very passionate teacher, eager to bring everyone along with him in the sport no matter their age or innate talent level, as long as they brought their own enthusiasm and dedication to the table. I have since put titles on 4 dogs, a sh*tzu-maltese and 3 German Shepherds. I now hold four FCI BH certificates, three FCI IGP 1 titles, one FCI FH 1 and one FCI FH2 title, and one FCI IGP 2 title on the four dogs that I trialed. IGP is a sport that requires constant problem solving and communication between the dog and the handler. Akin has an intuitive understanding of the dog's perspective and exceptional ability to reconcile the handler's behavior with the dog's needs in the moment. IGP is an excellent sport for those who would enjoy working on Sudoku puzzles but with their dog and, with over 35 years of experience, Akin will set you up with a solid foundation in the sport."

We had a very cute but naughty mini Australian shepard. He was jumping, growling and snapping at our two year old grandson. Akin address that problem and now our grandson can happily play with the pup. If you want an obedient dog ABC Training Kennels is the one to go to. We also thought it was beneficial to have the training in our home to address the problems there. Thank you Akin for your help.

Our female German Shepherd puppy, Sierra (born December 15, 2025), completed training with James Akin-Otiko at ABC Training Kennels from June 17, 2026, through July 6, 2026, and we could not be more pleased with the experience and results. Violet - The Cutest Mini-Dachshund . Three Weeks Board and Train Option
We would highly recommend Akin for any of your dog training needs based on our recent experience with him. When we first brought home our five-month-old miniature Dachshund, Violet, she was a sweet but a stubborn puppy who proved to be quite a handful. During the three weeks she spent training with Akin, he provided regular updates through texts and videos. This transparency gave us great peace of mind and allowed us to see her progress firsthand. It is clear that Akin is extremely experienced and utilizes a proven training system that delivers impressive results. What truly sets Akin apart is his ongoing support.
