Church Rd / 150 / Highland Church area in West Baden - be on the lookout for our Gizmo - very sweet and doesn’t wonder so we are super worried that he’s missing!

He’s very friendly, scared of storms, and doesn’t know a stranger. He went missing from our yard around 8:30 last night and we have been looking for him ever since.

Call me 812-296-2433 if you see him 🙏🏻

Today’s Fun Fact Friday is all about our new frozen diets from Royal Canin! 🐾

The full offerings from the Royal Canin Fresh Frozen Veterinary Nutrition are: Gastrointestinal Low Fat, Appetite Stimulation, and Selected Protein Pork Recipe.
- Right now, our clinic has the Gastrointestinal Low Fat and Appetite Stimulation diets in stock
- The Gastrointestinal diet is something any dog can be on, not just limited to pets with GI issues!

These diets can be fed as a main meal, mixed with kibble or canned food, or served as a topper.

When transitioning pets to these diets as their main meal, Royal Canin recommends at least a 7-day transition protocol. A graphic will be attached below!
*Monitor individual pets tolerance and adjust the protocol as needed*

The frozen diets include fiber from whole ingredients and contain EPA and DHA shown to support digestive health and help with inflammation.
- The Appetite Stimulation and Gastrointestinal Low Fat meals contain yeast extract as a source of prebiotic fiber.
- The Gastrointestinal Low Fat meal contains powered cellulose and psyllium fibers.

Storing these diets should be done in the freezer for up to 12 months. Thawing should be done in the refrigerator up to 24 hours before serving, (Royal Canin does not recommend other thawing methods for these products).
- Once opened, keep meals in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to 5 days.

Through this month of September, we have been celebrating one year of working with Abby and Ellie!

We asked both girls to look back on their year here at OCAC and share some of their favorite times!

Abby shared: “One of my favorite parts of my time here has been all the cool things I’ve gotten to learn and see in surgery! From a huge splenic mass to leg amputations, CCL repairs, and so much more. I’ve learned so much already and I am so excited to continue learning, growing, and seeing so much more during my time at Orange County! ❤️🐾”

Ellie says: “So thankful to have been part of this clinic for the past year! 🤍 One of my favorite memories is definitely helping Dr. Allen and Ellie Simon with a prolapse on a cow. I’ve learned so much this past year, but getting to work with cows and seeing calves being born are some of favorite moments. So grateful for this year! 🐮”

Happy one year to Abby and Ellie! You are both a joy to work with and we are so happy you are on our team here at OCAC! 🎊💚

Fun Fact Friday!

Have you ever noticed chickens pecking in gravel picking up rocks and wondered why? 🐔

Chickens are without teeth and therefore need help with the breakdown of their food. So, they will eat small rocks and other coarse items which will travel into their gizzard.

The contractions of the gizzard cause the food to grind against the rocks and break down for proper digestion. The rocks will wear down and will frequently need to be replaced by more.

So, if you see chickens eating rocks, you now know it’s very important in their digestive process! 🐥
