Apparently being a horse owner/ranch person means sleep is optional. 😂🐴

It does not matter if it’s 2 PM, 2 AM, morning, night, rain, cold, whatever… if I hear a suspicious amount of whinnying, I’m going outside to investigate.

Tonight’s episode:

1:30 AM: Hear two or three whinnies.
Me in bed: 👀 Why are we yelling? Who has done something stupid?

I look outside noise stops.

3:30 AM: More whinnying.
So naturally, I’m on the four-wheeler, driving around in the dark like some sort of sleep-deprived barn security officer. 😂

Everybody? Fine.
Nobody stuck.
Nobody escaped.
Nobody dying.
Nobody apparently needing anything from me whatsoever.

Meanwhile my internal monologue the entire time:

“Okay… which one of you idiots has done something stupid today?” 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

I swear horse ownership is 10% actually caring for horses and 90% hearing one weird noise and immediately assuming someone has found a brand-new creative way to injure themselves.

But will I continue getting out of bed every single time?

Absolutely. 😂🐴❤️

NEEDLESS TO SAY IF YOU SEE ME SLEEP WALKING TALK TO THE HORSES ABOUT THAT ! Coffee trip it is !

BOARDERS ONLY – PLEASE READ

The New Feed Room has been set up for a while now, so we are asking everyone to double check the stall we used for storing all feed bins etc, while we did renovations.

On September 1st, Anything left in the stall (by the lesson tackroom) everything will be thrown in the trash. If something belongs to you, please make sure you claim it and take care of it before then.

If you have feed containers, bins, buckets, or pans that you plan to move into the new feed room, please do not move them over dirty, dusty, or with old/mouldy food still inside.

Please:

● Empty out any old, spoiled, mouldy, or unsealed food.
● Thoroughly clean out your feed containers.
● Hose/wash them out if needed and allow them to dry completely before putting them into the new feed room.
● Do not bring dirty feed troughs or containers with old feed residue into the newly cleaned area.
● Any feed being stored needs to be kept in a properly sealed container.
● Please do not empty the moldy food into our trash cans, pastures , or the dry lots please go and empty in the treeline.
● Also please do not wash the old feed out by the washing area or by lesson tack-room.

Friendly reminder , the black dump trailer is NOT for trash. Please do not use it for anything thank you.

We are trying to get everything cleaned, organized, and sanitary while also freeing up this stall for its proper purpose.

Please make sure your belongings are taken care of before September 1st, because after that date anything remaining will be disposed of.

☀️BOARDERS - LAKESIDE STABLES 🐴💧

With temperatures high this week,we will be doing extra checks to keep all of the horses comfortable, hydrated, and closely monitored.

💧 All water troughs have been topped off and checked.
(Will be refilled and topped off during the day)
🐴 We are doing checks every 2 hours today to monitor water, the horses, and overall conditions.

🌡️We will check each horse and if any other sweating we will cool them down.

🧂 Salt blocks are currently available in each dry lot. We will also be purchasing new salt blocks tomorrow to replace any that are getting down to the smaller end of their block.
