Up Sunday at 3:00 a.m. to make it for an 8:00 a.m. showtime for one day at one of our favorite shows of the year- Woofstock! We aren’t showing much anymore because Asher will be 9 this week, but he absolutely loves it and so I feel obliged to get him out there. I'm always staggered when he pulls off a breed win, which is more often than not in the two years that he has been a veteran, and showing as one for about a year. His longevity and beauty speaks for itself and I am delighted to be at the other end of his lead. And he did indeed pull off another significant when amongst strong competition. I thank the judge, Mr. Phil Freilich, for his integrity and recognition of Asher's beautiful daughter Marci, handled beautifully by Jene for BOS
The win was briefly marred by the most egregious violation of the AKC code of sportsmanship that I have ever been subject to ( except perhaps the time when another breed competitor hit me with a bag of ice).
I have learned from my friends in other breeds that this is just the price of winning but it is unfortunate and as Al says the “dog show mentality is broken and toxic.” I can't argue with this and if it's a “dying sport” as many say then this will expedite the demise.
Here's the code of conduct for those who clearly need a review. Multiple people told me to report this person, but I am not going to waste any more energy on such toxicity and instead I’ll keep aiming to breed and show type, well temperamented and sound dogs. ☮️✌️
