Show season is almost here!! I know we've been doing a few things here and there, and I don't know about you, but I'm getting excited!

I've uploaded a bunch to the shared calendar, so be sure to check it out. There are a lot of options, and I'll add to it as I see more. If any shows or clinics pop up that you're interested in, send them my way and I'll upload them to the calendar as well. If you need access to the calendar, just send me a message with your email and I'll add you on.

Well I'm BEAMING!

What a great couple of days at the state show! Aubrey and Lacie had a goal of jumping clean rounds and absolutely knocked it out of the park. They had great communication, timing, and fluidity throughout their entire course.

Today, the focus shifted to consistency and softness. Despite one slight bobble, they completely accomplished that goal as well. Compared to their very first 4-H show, they were truly unrecognizable. The growth they've shown has been incredible.

I'm over the moon with not only their performance, but Aubrey's sportsmanship and horsemanship. She was ready to go before they even called placings because "she was proud of her horse."

I'm so proud to be a part of your journey. I'm excited to watch you continue to grow and achieve goals.

Congratulations to all competitors. There was really great competition, great horses, and great riders out there.

This dynamic duo is all ready for the start of the Florida 4H State Horse Show!!! I'm so proud of this little team and am wishing them the best of luck over the next few days. I'll be here in your corner girlfriend! Let's go out there, have some fun, and leave it all in the arena.
You've checked one goal off your list, let's see if we can check off a few more while we're here. 😉

What an incredible way to wrap up an amazing season!

This season was filled with so much growth, determination, and memorable moments. Watching each rider and horse partnership develop throughout the year has been truly rewarding, and it's hard to put into words just how proud I am of every single one of you. Even James earned his first buckle!

Not every ride went exactly according to plan, but time and time again, everyone showed up, saddled up, and gave their very best with the horse they had that day. That kind of dedication, resilience, and horsemanship is something to be proud of. Along the way, countless small goals were achieved, and those milestones led to some major accomplishments.

I'm so excited to see what next season brings. Continued growth, learning, confidence, and fun that make this team so special. Maybe, I can convince a few more people to step outside their comfort zones and give showing a try. 👀

Congratulations to all competitors. Every person who shows up, puts themselves out there, and gives it their all, contributes to an environment where everyone can learn, improve, and grow.

A huge thank you to the association, volunteers, supporters, families, and everyone working behind the scenes. None of this would be possible without your time, dedication, and encouragement.

Way to rock it, everyone. I couldn't be more proud. ❤️

Happy Father’s Day to the horse show dads who may not always know what's going on, but show up anyway.

The dads who still aren't entirely sure what event they're watching, but clap enthusiastically after every run.

The dads who ask, "Did you win?" after you've spent 20 minutes explaining how the scoring works.

The dads who can change a trailer tire on the side of the road but still can't tell the difference between a snaffle bit and a curb bit.

The dads who spend all day carrying chairs, fetching drinks, holding horses, and asking, "So when do you go?" every 15 minutes.

The dads who may not understand lead changes, circles, spins, sidepasses or stops, but they understand showing up, cheering loudly, and being there when it counts.

Happy Father’s Day to the horse show dads. You might not know what's happening in the arena, but we always know you're in our corner. ❤️🤘

Things your riding instructor wants you to know:
1. This sport is hard. You don't get to bypass the hard…..every good rider has gone through it. You make progress, then you don't, and then you make progress again. Your riding instructor can coach you through it, but they cannot make it easy.

2. You're going to ride horses you don't want to ride. If you're teachable, you will learn from every horse you ride. Each horse in the barn can teach you if you let them. IF YOU LET THEM. Which leads me to…

3. You MUST be teachable to succeed in this sport. You must be teachable to succeed at anything, but that is another conversation. Being teachable often means going back to basics time and time and time again. If you find basics boring, then your not looking at them as an opportunity to learn. Which brings me to…..

4. This sport is a COMMITMENT. Read that, then read it again. Every sport is a commitment, but in this sport your teammate weighs 1200 lbs and speaks a different language. Good riders don't get good by riding every once in awhile….they improve because they make riding a priority and give themsevles opportunity to practice.

5. EVERY RIDE IS AN OPPORTUNITY. Even the walk ones. Even the hard ones. Every. Single. Ride. Remember when you just wished someone would lead you around on a horse? Find the happiness in just being able to RIDE. If you make every ride about what your AREN'T doing, you take the fun out of the experience for yourself, your horse, and your instructor. Just enjoy the process. Which brings me to...

6. Riding should be fun. It is work. and work isn't always fun.....but if you (or your rider) are consistently choosing other activities or find yourself not looking forward to lessons, it's time to take a break. The horses already know you don't want to be here, and you set yourself up for failure if you are already dreading the lesson before you get here.

7. You'll learn more about horses from the ground than you ever will while riding. That's why ground lessons are important, too. If you're skipping ground lessons (or the part of your lesson that takes place on the ground), you're missing out on the most important parts of the lesson. You spend far more time on the ground with horses than you do in the saddle.

8. Ask questions and communicate. If you're wondering why your coach is having you ride a particular horse or do an exercise, ask them. Then listen to their answer and refer to #3 above.

9. We are human beings. We make decisions (some of them life and death ones) every day. We balance learning for students with workloads for horses and carry the bulk of this business on our shoulders. A little courtesy goes a long way.

Of all the sports your child will try through their school years, riding is one of 3 that they may continue regularly as adults (golf and skiing are the others). People who coach riding spend the better part of their free time and much of their disposable income trying to improve their own riding and caring for the horses who help teach your child. They love this sport and teaching others…..but they all have their limits. Not all good riders are good coaches, but all good coaches will tell you that the process to get good is not an easy one.

Another successful Bakas series in the books!

Goals were reached, new ones were set, and plenty of great memories were made along the way.

Thankful for the horses that make it all possible. They don't understand ribbons, buckles, or awards, they simply show up and give us their best every day. They are the true partners behind every accomplishment we celebrate.

Congratulations to everyone on a great season. Looking forward to next year!
