🩸 FOREIGN BODY FRIDAY REVEAL! 🐾

Well, this one certainly comes with strings attached! 😳

The culprit? A TAMPON! Apparently, this little Boston Terrier was in for a long period of discomfort. This tampon caused a serious linear foreign body obstruction that required surgery!

Thankfully, our little patient pulled through, and we’re happy to report she’s home recovering with her family. ❤️

Moral of the story? Keep those bathroom trash cans secured! We’d hate for your pup to go through this cycle. 🐶

🐾 FOREIGN BODY FRIDAY! 🐾

We’re back with another round, and ironically, this little Boston Terrier’s troubles started in the bathroom! 🚽

After three days of an upset stomach, this sweet girl came to see us, and it was clear something wasn’t quite right. She had an intestinal obstruction caused by a linear foreign body—one of the more dangerous types of foreign material our furry friends can swallow!

Thankfully, our surgical team was able to pull some strings, and this little lady came through surgery beautifully! She’s now home recovering with her family. ❤️

Now it’s your turn! 🧐 What do you think caused all this trouble? Let’s see who can string together the clues!

Drop your guesses below! 👇 Reveal coming soon!

🌱 FOREIGN BODY FRIDAY REVEAL! 🌱

You might want to sit down on the lawn for this one… because the answer is GRASS! 😳

And not just a few blades—this grass managed to braid itself into a rope inside the stomach, creating a serious, life-threatening obstruction. Talk about taking “going green” a little too far!

Thankfully, we were able to get to the root of the problem and remove this tangled mess. 🌿

Never underestimate what our pets can get themselves into—even something as innocent as grass can become a big problem when swallowed in large amounts.

Thanks for playing along! We’ll leaf you guessing again next Friday. 😉

FOREIGN BODY FRIDAY!

Time for another round! This naughty Lab woofed down a whole pile of trouble, and it looks like things got a little tangled up along the way. 😬

👀 Check out the arrows—you can see the bunching of the intestines, a concerning sign we can see with certain types of foreign material.

Any guesses what this pup decided to make a meal out of? 🤔 You might have to dig a little for this one…

Drop your guess below!

🪨 FOREIGN BODY FRIDAY REVEAL! 🪨

The final count was a whopping 60 Little Rock’s! Apparently one or two just wasn’t enough—he was determined to build a whole collection. 🪨🪨🪨

🎉 Congratulations to R Renee Ak for being rock-solid with the correct guess of 60 and to everyone else who got so close! You absolutely crushed it! 👏

⚠️ A quick rock-solid reminder: If your pet has a habit of picking up, chewing, or deliberately swallowing rocks or other foreign material, prevention is key! Consider a properly fitted basket muzzle or grazing-style muzzle/net when they’re outside or in areas where tempting objects are available. It may help prevent a foreign body from turning into an emergency—or a trip to surgery.

Thanks for playing along—stay tuned for the next Foreign Body Friday. You never know what will turn up next! 😜

🪨 FOREIGN BODY FRIDAY: A ROCKY SITUATION! 🪨

We’re doing things a little differently this week! Instead of guessing WHAT our little troublemaker swallowed, we’re telling you… ROCKS! 🪨

Now it’s your turn to dig deep and guess HOW MANY rocks this little gem managed to swallow! 🤔

Don’t take the overlap for granite, count from every view! Drop your best guess in the comments and stay tuned for the reveal. We have a feeling this one will leave you between a rock and a hard place! 😂

🐾 Giardia: An Unwelcome Adventure Companion! 🦆

Hunting season is here, and our four-legged adventure buddies are ready to hit the woods and water! But beware of a microscopic troublemaker lurking in those puddles, ponds, and streams—Giardia!

💧 Giardia is an intestinal parasite spread through contaminated water, soil, and f***s. Hunting dogs, especially water-loving bird dogs, are particularly at risk!

🔎 Signs to watch for:
Persistent or recurring diarrhea
Vomiting or decreased appetite
Weight loss or lethargy

🐕 Keep your adventure buddy safe! Bring clean drinking water, discourage drinking from questionable water sources, and promptly clean up stool.

💩 If your pup develops persistent diarrhea after an outdoor adventure, bring a fresh stool sample to your veterinarian for testing!

Fortunately, Giardia is treatable! At Susitna Animal Urgent Care, we’re here to help keep your hunting buddies healthy and ready for their next Alaskan adventure!
