Our hearts are broken due to the passing of Prima who fought hard to overcome a spontaneous pneumothorax she experienced Saturday night while in Indianapolis for CanAm. Only hours before, Prima helped our Born to Be Wild team to a first-place finish, as she also did on Friday. At only 4 years of age, Prima's flyball career was cut way too short, but she truly shined throughout. After getting adopted by the Doggett family in June 2022, which is the rescue dog equivalent of hitting the jackpot, she debuted in 2024 and her first day of running full-time occurred at CanAm that same year. Prima returned to CanAm in 2025 and helped break an ADGW (and Region 18) multibreed record that had stood for eight years. Back in Alaska, during our Spring Fever Flyball Fest in April, she was again part of another multibreed record setting team (16.465 seconds). During her three CanAms, out of eight tourney placements, Prima's team amazingly placed first five times and second twice. Another one of Prima's incredible feats was setting a new PB six times throughout a stretch of seven tourney weekends. As a leggy and fit Siberian Husky with a graceful effortless-looking stride, her fastest time was 4.384 seconds. Affectionately known as Maija's "rainbow princess unicorn," Prima--short for Primadonna--is the 11th top-pointed Sibe in NAFA. We will greatly miss Prima's awe-inspiring athleticism, her one-of-a-kind beauty, and her ever-so-cute derpy moments. Huge hugs to Maija, Porter, and Brad during their time of unimaginable loss. 🌈 🦄
Prima's care in Indianapolis spanned five days and involved several surgical procedures including the insertion of multiple chest tubes and highly invasive open chest surgery. In addition to enduring the loss of Prima, the Doggett family is faced with veterinary bills that have exceeded $20,000. To help the Doggetts cover the costs, please send donations via Venmo (Maija Doggett, -Doggett, [email protected]) or PayPal (Janelle Doggett, , [email protected]). Thank you! 🙏
