The Road That Led Courage Home:
Before he was rescued, Courage had been wandering the streets with a fractured femur for who knows how long. By the time Desert Paws Sanctuary took him in, he had severe muscle loss and was holding up one of his hind legs almost all of the time. After surgery, he still relied heavily on his other three legs and needed to learn that he could safely use the injured leg again.
💦
When Paws asked if I would help with massage and hydrotherapy for Courage, Marvel, and Rocco, myself and Lori Weiner were happy to donate therepeutic services. From the moment I met Courage, I fell in love with him. But at the time, I couldn’t add another dog to my family.
💦
For three months in 2024, Courage came for regular hydrotherapy sessions. Together, we worked on rebuilding strength, improving his movement, and helping him gain confidence in using his leg. His foster family did an incredible job reinforcing that work at home, and little by little, Courage stopped holding his leg up and began using it more naturally.
Even after his sessions ended, I continued to follow his journey. I’d stop by adoption events to say hello, check in on his progress, and secretly hope that one day our paths might cross again.
💦
Fast forward to today. The time came and we were able to welcome another dog into our lifes—and amazingly, Courage was still waiting for his forever home.
Now he’s home.🏡
Watching him run, play, and enjoy life on the Reyna Rall Ranch with Calvin 🐴 is incredibly rewarding, especially knowing how far he’s come. Courage is proof that healing takes time, that small victories matter, and that sometimes the dog you’re meant to have is worth waiting for.
Welcome home, Courage. 💙🐾
💐Special thanks to Melody at for reporting Courage to the rescue. 💐 And to Laura and Albert for taking such good care of him and Natalie and the whole DOS team involved in his transport for surgery. Rob and I are very grateful and have tons of new videos to share !
