Mosquitoes may be tiny, but they can cause some BIG problems for our pets! 🐶🐱

Did you know mosquitoes can transmit heartworm disease? One infected mosquito bite is all it takes to potentially transmit heartworm larvae to your dog or cat.

❤️ The good news? Heartworm disease is preventable! Consistent, year-round heartworm prevention is one of the simplest ways to protect your pet from this potentially serious—and in dogs, potentially deadly—disease.

And here in Florida, mosquitoes aren't exactly taking the winter off! 🌴🦟 That makes year-round prevention especially important.

A few reminders for pet parents:

Did you know that black cats may face a bit of a disadvantage when it comes to finding their forever homes?

One large shelter study found that black cats had the lowest adoption rate of all coat colors studied—about 10%—compared with 18.8% for white cats. Other research has also found that black cats can spend longer in shelters before being adopted.

And while the reasons aren't completely understood, researchers have explored everything from old superstitions to the simple fact that black cats can be harder to photograph and may not stand out as much in adoption listings. 🐾

But we know the truth: black cats are just as loving, playful, silly, and deserving of a forever home as every other cat, so today, we're celebrating our own little panthers!
