Meet Chico! 🐾💛

This handsome boy is now our longest resident here at FHS, and it breaks our hearts to say it. Chico was adopted from us as a puppy, and he's been adopted and returned FOUR times in his short life. But here's the thing: not one single time has it been about him.

Every time Chico has come back to us, it's had nothing to do with his behavior. Health struggles. Changing living situations. Life circumstances completely out of his control. He is a gentle, loving boy who just keeps getting caught in the crossfire of other people's hard moments. 💔

This time, he's been waiting since April. That's 5 long months of watching other dogs get adopted while he stays behind.

He's only 3 years and 4 months old and already knows what it feels like to be given up on, over and over. He can be a little shy at first (wouldn't you be, after everything he's been through?), but give him a few minutes and his true goofy, affectionate personality comes right out. 😊

🧡Meet Garfunkel!

It might be Ginger Cat Appreciation Day, but Garfunkel is here to steal the spotlight anyway! ❤ (Fun fact: his name means "red gemstone," and he lives up to every bit of it.)

Garfunkel is one year old and weighs 34 pounds. Garfunkel is an ideal-sized bundle of sunshine. He came to us as a stray, and even though no one claimed him, he’s still just as happy and outgoing as ever.

Garfunkel is young, curious, and still figuring out the world. With some structure, patience, and love, this playful pup will be a wonderful companion. He walks nicely on a leash, gets along with most other dogs, and is very motivated by treats.

🧡🐈 Happy Ginger Cat Appreciation Day! 🐈🧡

Did you know? About 80% of ginger cats are male, thanks to how the ginger gene is inherited. Also, every ginger cat is a tabby, even when their stripes are hard to see.

As ginger cats get older, they might develop little freckles on their noses, lips, and gums. While every cat has its own personality, orange cats are often known for being friendly, curious, playful, and a little goofy.

Today we want to introduce Snuffy, our 2-year-old ginger boy who weighs 10 pounds. He’s FIV positive and, most importantly, he’s a very good boy.

💛 CLEAR THE SHELTERS FINALE: MEET WELLS & CHLOE! 🐾

Today is the final day of Clear the Shelters. We’re hoping Wells and Chloe find the loving families they deserve.

🐶 Meet Wells!
Wells is 8 years old and weighs about 70 pounds. He has a calm, gentle personality and a wise spirit. Even though he’s a bit older, he still has lots of love and energy to give.

Wells walks nicely on a leash and knows commands like sit, come, down, paw, and up. He’s motivated by treats, takes them gently, and seems to be house-trained. He also stays calm when passing other dogs.

Wells is happiest just being with his person, whether he’s exploring outside or relaxing on the couch.

🐱 Meet Chloe!
Chloe is a sweet 2-year-old black-and-brown cat who loves head scratches.

She’s affectionate, playful, and outgoing. Chloe enjoys attention and loves showing affection to her people. If you want a loving cat who will greet you and enjoy cuddle time, Chloe is ready to meet you.

💕After 253 Days, Bingo Finally Has a Home. 🏠

Today is a special day at the Flagler Humane Society because our longest resident, Bingo, has finally been adopted!

Bingo arrived at the shelter as a stray on December 20, 2025. For 253 days, he waited patiently for a family who would see what we always saw in him: a gentle, affectionate, and playful boy with so much love to give.

During his time with us, Bingo enjoyed many walks, belly rubs, treats, and lots of attention. He even spent a day at the beach with one of our volunteers, where he loved the water and got along great with the children and everyone he met.

Bingo's waiting is now over, and he is enjoying life on five acres with his new family, with plenty of space to explore, play, and finally live the life he always deserved. After 253 days in our care, this is the happy ending we hoped for.

Bingo wasn’t the only one celebrating on this occasion. 25 other animals also found homes through our Clear the Shelters event, bringing the total to 26 lives changed this weekend!

Tomorrow is the last day of the Clear the Shelters campaign, and some animals are still waiting for their chance.

Adoption fees are waived for qualifying dogs and cats. Come meet your new best friend and help us make room for the next pet who needs our help.

💛 CLEAR THE SHELTERS: MEET SNUFFY & MCLOVIN! 🐾

From August 29 to 31, we’re waiving adoption fees for eligible dogs and cats. Snuffy and McLovin are hoping this will be the weekend their forever families find them.

🐱 Meet Snuffy!
Snuffy is a handsome 2-year-old orange cat with a big personality and an even bigger love for people. He is friendly, playful, active, and always ready to explore his surroundings.

After he finishes exploring, Snuffy loves to snuggle. He enjoys curling up with people and soaking up attention.

Snuffy would prefer to be the only cat in the home so he can be your one-and-only feline companion. If you want an affectionate, curious cat who will keep you company and then settle in for cuddles, Snuffy could be the perfect match.

🐶 Meet McLovin!
McLovin is a sweet 6-year-old, 45-pound brindle and white dog with a gentle heart and lots of love to give.

She is great with kids, walks well on a leash, and enjoys both peaceful strolls and cozy cuddle time at home. She is happiest when she is part of a family and getting plenty of love and attention.

McLovin would do best as the only dog in the household, but she is happy to share her home with cats.

She is loyal, loving, affectionate, and ready to be someone’s best friend.
