Caught red-pawed! 🐾☕

Our hospital kitty, Toby, was on a VERY important mission today… getting his paws on Michelle’s coffee!
First came the innocent sniff… then the not-so-subtle paw reaching into her cup! 🐱☕

Apparently, supervising the pharmacy is exhausting work, and Toby thinks he deserves a little caffeine boost, too!

We are deeply saddened to hear of Maris’ passing. Over the years, we had the privilege of caring for many of the rescue kitties she brought through our doors. She was always so incredibly kind, compassionate, and truly selfless. Her dedication to giving cats in need a second chance touched countless lives — both feline and human.

Maris was a truly remarkable woman, and we feel fortunate to have known her and to have played even a small part in the work that meant so much to her. May her legacy of compassion live on through Domino’s and all of the lives she touched.

Rest in peace, Maris. You will be greatly missed.

⚠️ RABIES ALERT — MARTIN COUNTY ⚠️

A raccoon captured near South Kanner Highway in Stuart tested positive for rabies, prompting a 60-day alert issued September 30 by the Florida Department of Health in Martin County.

The reported alert area includes SE Tressler Drive to the south, SE Federal Highway to the east, and South Kanner Highway to the west. Residents throughout our community should take precautions to protect themselves and their pets.

🐾 Keep your pets’ rabies vaccinations current.
🐾 Keep pets leashed and supervised outdoors.
🐾 Avoid contact with wildlife and unfamiliar stray animals—even if they seem friendly.
🐾 Bring pet food indoors and secure garbage to avoid attracting wildlife.

If your pet is bitten or has a possible exposure, contact a veterinarian immediately and Martin County Animal Control at 772-463-3211.

If a person is bitten or scratched, wash the wound with soap and water, seek medical attention immediately, and contact DOH-Martin at 772-221-4030.

💗 In Loving Memory of Sophie Marie 💗

Our hearts are incredibly heavy as we share that we said goodbye to our sweet Sophie Marie last night.

Sophie came into our lives a little over a year ago, and in that time, she became so much more than our hospital dog. She became family.

If you’ve visited Martin Downs Animal Hospital, chances are you knew Sophie. She came to work every day, made herself comfortable up front, greeted our clients, supervised the front desk, and quickly became a familiar little face that so many people looked forward to seeing.

While Sophie belonged to all of us at MDAH, she truly found her person in Michelle. Michelle became her mama, her safe place, and her home. Their bond was incredibly special, and Sophie could not have been more loved.

Losing her has left a huge hole in our hospital and in our hearts. Today, the front desk will feel a little quieter. Her spot will feel very empty. We know many of you will notice that she isn’t there, and we ask for a little extra grace for our team—especially Michelle—as we adjust to coming to work without our girl.

Sophie’s time with us was far too short, but we are so grateful that we had the privilege of loving her and giving her a life surrounded by people who adored her.

Rest easy, Sophie Marie. 🤍
You were so very loved, and you will be so very missed.
