🏅🐐 GOAT Camp Graduation Day 🐐🏅

Huge congratulations to Speedy & Pickles on graduating this week!

Pickles has made tremendous progress with his resource guarding, leash reactivity, boundaries, and overall mindset, learning to follow his owners’ guidance instead of always doing whatever he wants.

Speedy went from severe anxiety and leash reactivity that had made his world incredibly small to confidently going places with his owner, following her guidance, and making dramatically better decisions around other dogs.

But we have to give some special props to Speedy’s owner. She works in the rescue world and had been fed so much misinformation about her own dog, including being told medication was the answer, while ineffective “positive only” training left her without any meaningful way to communicate with Speedy when he made bad decisions. Eventually his world became so small that she couldn’t comfortably take him anywhere another dog might show up.

Instead of accepting that as his life, she reached out to us, opened herself up to a completely different approach, and COMMITTED herself to learning. She learned how to clearly communicate with Speedy when he’s doing something right AND when he’s doing something wrong, how to advocate for him, how to lead him through uncomfortable situations, and how to stop avoiding the world because of his behavior.

Now? Speedy is going everywhere with her, and she’s not afraid to run into a dog 🙌

That’s an incredible turnaround, and it’s exactly what can happen when we stop pretending that throwing treats at every problem and avoiding everything uncomfortable is somehow helping the dog. Dogs need reinforcement, but they also need boundaries, accountability, clarity, and leadership.

Speedy’s world didn’t need to get smaller. He needed an owner with the tools to help him navigate a bigger one and she stepped up BIG TIME! 👏

Another new GOAT Camp journey is underway!

Peanut is a 2 year old Pittie here to work through some pretty significant anxiety. Like so many anxious dogs we see, she’s been coddled her whole life with very few boundaries or structure, tons of affection without expectations, not enough exercise, and no clear system of communication between her and her owner.

That’s left Peanut without much guidance when she’s faced situations that make her nervous, and unfortunately she’s already had a few nips because of it.

Luckily, she’s in the right place! We’re going to build Peanut’s confidence, sharpen her skills, teach her how to settle, and most importantly, show her owner how to become the calm, confident leader Peanut desperately needs.

8 new GOAT Camp dogs have joined us over the past week!

Meet Mishka, Dotti, Nova, Chico, Zuri, Winston, Zora, & Simo!

Mishka is a 7 month old Eurasier here to work on settling, leash manners, and developing reactivity. His previous training was positive only, so now it’s time actually add some real-life reliability, accountability, & boundaries!

Dotti is a 3 year old Portuguese Water Dog here for settling, leash manners, and reactivity. Adding some much needed structure and boundaries will go a LONG way for this sweet girl.

Nova is a 5 year old GSD mix struggling with severe anxiety and reactivity. We’re going to add the clear direction and expectations she’s been missing so she can make better decisions.

Chico is a 1 year old Bully mix here for anxiety, settling, and leash reactivity. This friendly big guy needs to learn that he doesn’t always have to be involved and build confidence in his independence.

Zuri is a 4 year old Aussie struggling with anxiety, reactivity, and being alone. Adding boundaries, structure, and clear communication will give this smart girl the clarity she needs.

Winston is an 8 year old Goldendoodle with severe separation anxiety who currently can’t be left alone. His owners are committed to changing THEIR habits so Winston can finally build confidence in his independence.

Zora is a 3 year old Pit / Lab / Boxer mix rejoining us after surgery cut her training short last year. We’re going to add boundaries and teach her how to settle so she can eventually earn her freedom back.

Simo is a 4 year old Aussie with severe separation anxiety and reactivity who is constantly overwhelmed and overstimulated. Building boundaries and confidence in his independence will be HUGE for helping this guy finally slow his mind down.

Different dogs, different challenges, but a familiar theme: boundaries, structure, clear communication, and confidence in independence. As always, teaching the owners how to do all of this is going to be our main priority!

🏅🐐 Our First Ever Tripod GOAT Grad! 🐐🏅

Gus Gus graduated today, and he absolutely crushed his program. Gus Gus is so much calmer, his separation anxiety has pretty much vanished, and his confidence has skyrocketed since the day he started.

And as always, the biggest difference has been what happened at home. His owners listened to our advice, stayed consistent, changed their habits where needed, and actually put in the work.

Gus Gus may only have three legs, but this little dude never let that slow him down for a second. He’s been an absolute blast to work with, and we’re so proud of how far he and his owners have come.

Give it up for our first ever tripod GOAT Grad, Gus Gus!! 🐐

🏅🐐 BIG Week of GOAT Camp Graduates! 🐐🏅

Huge congratulations to Green Bean & Evie, Scout, Bella, Benji, Peaches, & Stanley!

Green Bean & Evie learned that demanding behaviors no longer work, became much better at settling and being independent, and have seen their anxiety improve tremendously as their owners realized just how much they had unknowingly reinforced these behaviors for the past 5 years.

Scout made tremendous progress with her anxiety, reactivity, and independence while her owner learned how to provide the structure and leadership she desperately needed.

Bella improved her leash manners, obedience, boundaries, and independence while learning that she doesn’t always need to demand things on her terms.

Benji went from exploding at triggers, redirecting his frustration onto the leash, and being unable to settle to having fantastic obedience, processing stressful situations better, and learning how to channel that frustration through productive outlets like tug.

Peaches learned how to properly respond to leash pressure, became much calmer and easier to communicate with on leash, and made major progress with her anxiety and reactivity.

Stanley learned how to settle, improved tremendously in his crate and demanding behaviors, and sharpened his leash skills and obedience.

Seven different dogs with different challenges, but there’s a common theme behind ALL of their progress: their owners realized their own habits had to change if they wanted their dogs’ habits and behaviors to change.

That’s what this program is really about. We can train every dog that walks through our doors, but lasting success happens when the humans learn how to communicate clearly, establish boundaries, provide proper fulfillment, and consistently become the leaders their dogs need at home.

Dog training is a journey, not a destination. No dog is ever “finished,” but these owners are leaving with a completely different understanding of their dogs and the tools to keep building on this progress for life.

Huge shoutout to all seven dogs AND their owners for putting in the work!

Three new dogs are kicked off their GOAT Camp journeys this week!

Pickles is a 2 year old Shih Tzu / Yorkie mix here to work through severe resource guarding and leash reactivity. He already has a couple of bites under his belt, can be very pushy with the other dog at home, and currently has no boundaries. Our focus will be teaching his owners how to provide the leadership, structure, and clear communication he needs to make better decisions. Luckily, he’s super sweet, motivated, and eager to please!

Hutch is a 2 year old English Springer Spaniel here to work through severe resource guarding, anxiety, and an inability to settle. He’s learned to use aggression to guard valuable items or create space when he doesn’t want interaction. He’s incredibly smart, sweet, and loves to work, so adding calm leadership, boundaries, and direction is going to go a long way.

Speedy is a 7 year old Cattle Dog / Australian Shepherd mix here to work through severe leash reactivity and anxiety. After attacking a few dogs, his world has gotten very small because his owner doesn’t feel comfortable walking him where they might encounter another dog. Unfortunately, previous positive only “training” didn’t give his owner the tools she needed to effectively communicate with him when things got difficult. We’ll be channeling Speedy’s drive, building his independence, and teaching him to follow his owner’s guidance instead of taking matters into his own hands.

🏅🐐 This Week’s GOAT Camp Graduates 🐐🏅

Huge congratulations to Henry, Thor, & Perun on graduating GOAT Camp!

Henry made tremendous progress building confidence in his independence, learning to trust his mom’s leadership, and looking to her for guidance instead of trying to handle everything on his own. His mom fully committed to the program, and the results speak for themselves.

Thor came in as one of the most fearful, shut down dogs we’ve ever worked with. Today, he’s building confidence, opening up, and learning that the world isn’t so scary because his owners have stepped into the leadership role he needed all along. Watching his personality emerge has been incredibly rewarding.

Perun has had a special journey because we’ve known him since he was just 3.5 months old. Now a 7 month old adolescent German Shepherd, he’s gone from a puppy who couldn’t settle, was constantly vocal and frustrated, and had no leash skills, to a dog who settles calmly, walks beautifully, and has sharp obedience. Just as importantly, his owner now understands what this breed needs as he matures and is committed to continuing the work.

As always, dog training is a journey, not a destination. These owners now have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to continue building their relationships with their dogs for life. The blueprint is there -now it’s all about consistency!

We’re incredibly proud of these three teams.

Another new face has officially joined GOAT Camp! 🐐🔥

Ronan is a 4 year old Boxer here to work through some serious anxiety & leash reactivity. He’s a sweet, energetic guy, but he needs to build his confidence. Reducing his anxiety and helping him feel more confident and secure will be one of the primary goals of his program. Right now he gets easily overwhelmed on walks and has a hard time slowing his mind down.

Ronan can also be a bit territorial in his home, especially around other dogs, which is something we want to address now because his family will be welcoming a new puppy in just a few weeks. Our focus will be teaching Ronan exactly what to do on leash, helping him regulate his emotions, and showing his owners how to provide the structure, boundaries, and leadership he needs to be successful both at home and out in the real world.

We’ve got a lot to accomplish, but the best part is his owner is ready to put in the work, and that’s where real progress begins.
