Shelter Sunday Spotlight!

Let's spotlight two pets available for adoption at Eastern Shore Regional Animal Control Facility!

First up:

😽 Miss Miracle Whip!

What the shelter says about this sweet kitty is: 6 months old, recently spayed, FIV/FLV negative, fully vetted, and has her rabies certificate ready to go.
🐾 Her Personality
From her foster:
- She can be shy at first, especially after everything she’s been through
- Once she feels safe, she loves to curl up right next to her people
- She still has her kitten energy, but she’s gentle and sensitive
- She’s a gorgeous all‑white domestic shorthair with the sweetest little soul
The shelter was scary for her, and she’s doing so much better in a quiet home. But her foster spot isn’t forever — and we want her adopted before she has to come back.
---
🏡 Why She Needs You
Ms. Miracle Whip is:
- Fully vetted and ready for her forever home
- Young, loving, and eager to bond
- A perfect match for someone wanting a gentle, affectionate companion
- The kind of cat who blossoms when she feels safe

Next up:
🌧️Rain
What the shelter says about this 48 Pounds of Pure Perfection:
If you’re searching for a dog who’s the perfect mix of gentle, goofy, and grateful, Rain is your girl. At just 48 lb, she’s compact, sweet, and won’t get much bigger — truly the ideal size for couch cuddles and yard romps.
💛 Rain’s Best Qualities
- Dog friendly — but she needs the right match; she doesn’t always gel with female dogs
- Cat friendly
- Kid friendly
- Easy walker — she’s calm, steady, and a dream on leash
- 3 years old — past the puppy chaos but still playful and full of joy
🌧️ Her Story — And Why She Needs You
Rain has been rehomed three times in just five short months. When we picked her up as a stray, her body told the story of how unkind life had been to her recently. She deserved stability, love, and safety — and she didn’t get it.

Northern Accomack Community Cats NEEDS VOLUNTEERS!

Do you have a van or SUV? Are you willing to make a trip to Norfolk?

Northern Accomack Community Cats has an opportunity to partner with a high-volume spay/neuter clinic in Norfolk, VA, allowing them to serve even more cats each month—but they need volunteer drivers to make it happen. Their current spay/neuter wait list is 680 cats!

They are also looking for volunteers who can assist our elderly and disabled caregivers with trapping and transporting cats.

🚨 WE NEED YOUR HELP 🚨

Colony Registration Waiting List Update

We want to provide an honest and transparent update about our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program.

We are currently experiencing an unprecedented demand for our spay/neuter services, with more than 680+ cats on our waiting list. We are incredibly grateful to the dedicated caregivers who work tirelessly to care for community cats and help reduce the homeless cat population.

We understand how important it is to have cats spayed and neutered as quickly as possible. Our team is scheduling appointments as fast as we can, but our appointment availability depends entirely on our partner veterinary clinics. We can only schedule appointments as they become available.

At this time, the estimated wait for new colony registrations is approximately 4–5 months.

We truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued commitment as we work through the waiting list and do everything possible to help every registered caregiver.

We Have Big Goals—But We Can't Do It Alone

To reduce our waiting list and help more community cats, we need support from our community.

🚐 Volunteer Transporters Needed

We have an incredible opportunity to partner with a high-volume spay/neuter clinic in Norfolk, VA, allowing us to serve even more cats each month—but we need volunteer drivers to make it happen.

We're looking for volunteers with a minivan or large SUV who can safely transport 10 or more cats to and from the clinic once a month. Cats will be safely secured in humane cat traps.

Can you spare just one day each month to help save lives?????

We're also especially looking for volunteers who can assist our elderly and disabled caregivers with trapping and transporting cats. Even a few hours of your time each month can make a meaningful difference.

Have questions? We'd love to hear from you! Contact us by email at [email protected], call us at 757-894-5644, or send us a message on Facebook.

💙 Help Sponsor a TNR Cat

Every cat we help comes with a cost.

On average, it costs about $100 for NACC to provide TNR services for one cat. We ask caregivers to contribute $25 per cat, while NACC covers the remaining cost through donations and fundraising.

While we could increase the caregiver fee, many caregivers simply couldn't afford it. Keeping the cost low ensures that more community cats receive the lifesaving TNR they need and helps prevent even more homeless kittens from being born.

Your financial support helps bridge that gap. Every donation—large or small—allows us to help more cats and reduce our growing waiting list.

If you would like to make a donation, you can:
Donate online by visiting www.accomackcats.org, or
Mail your donations to:

“Without funding, we can't continue to provide TNR services for community cats." 😿

🎉 Fundraising Volunteers Needed

Do you enjoy planning events or working with others?

We're looking for volunteers to join our fundraising team to help organize and support community events throughout the year. Every fundraiser provides critical funding that keeps our TNR program operating and allows us to help more community cats.

Whether you can volunteer once a month or a few times a year, your time and talents can make a lasting impact.

Have questions? We'd love to hear from you! Contact us by email at [email protected], call us at 757-894-5644, or send us a message on Facebook.

😻 Together, We Can Make a Difference 😻

The need has never been greater, but neither has the opportunity.

Whether you volunteer, donate, transport cats, help with fundraising, or simply share our mission with others, you are helping create a healthier future for community cats.

Together, we can reduce the waiting list, prevent countless unwanted kitten litters, and improve the lives of hundreds of community cats. Thank you for your support!!!

🦷We humans get our teeth cleaned regularly (before signs of build-up) to avoid dental disease, bad breath, and pain—and our pets need that too! 😁

While at-home brushing and dental aids can help to keep teeth healthy, routine dental exams and cleanings are critical for preventing (or treating) periodontal disease. Is your pet due for a cleaning? Call us at (757) 442-3150 to book their visit!
