🇺🇸🎆 4th of July Weekend Safety Reminder 🎆🇺🇸
The holiday weekend is here—and that means fireworks may start as early as tonight in many areas. While it’s fun for us, it can be overwhelming and stressful for our pets.
Please plan ahead for your pups:

🐾 Keep dogs indoors during peak firework hours

🐾 Make sure doors, gates, and windows are secure

🐾 Provide a safe “quiet space” (crate, bedroom, or bathroom works great)

🐾 Consider calming enrichment like lick mats, frozen Kongs, snuffle mats, or long-lasting chews

🐾 Turn on TVs, fans, or white noise to help drown out loud sounds

🌞🐾 Summer is officially here! 🐾🌞

With rising temperatures, it's important to keep our furry family members safe and comfortable. Check out some of our summer reminders and don't forget to monitor your pet for signs of dehydration!

💧 How to Perform a Skin Turgor (Hydration) Test:

1️⃣ Find Loose Skin – Locate the extra, loose skin between your dog's shoulder blades or at the base of the neck.
2️⃣ Pinch Gently – Use your thumb and index finger to gently lift the skin upward about 1–2 inches.
3️⃣ Form a Tent – Hold the skin for 1–2 seconds so it forms a distinct "tent" shape.
4️⃣ Release Quickly – Let go of the skin completely and watch how fast it moves.
5️⃣ Count the Seconds – The skin should quickly return to its normal, flat position against the body. If it returns slowly or remains tented, your pet may be dehydrated and should be evaluated by a veterinarian.

⚠️ Other signs of overheating or dehydration may include: • Excessive panting • Lethargy • Dry or tacky gums • Loss of appetite • Sunken eyes

🐕 Remember:
✔️ Walk during cooler hours
✔️ Check pavement before walks
✔️ Keep fresh water available
✔️ Never leave pets unattended in vehicles
✔️ Prepare for fireworks season now
