🧡 Happy Feel-Good Friday! 🧡
This Friday, we wanted to share Sophia's story.
Sophia, formerly known as Lola, came to the shelter after a someone found her wandering the streets. At 14 years old, it was heartbreaking to see this sweet senior end up in a shelter. After a veterinary exam, we learned she had cancer throughout her body and was expected to have only about two months to live.
One of our staff members couldn't bear the thought of Sophia spending her final days in a shelter instead of a loving home. He welcomed Sophia into his family, determined to give her the comfort, love, and happiness every dog deserves.
That was last October.
Today, Sophia is 15 years old and still going strong, defying the odds with every passing day. She was named after Sophia from The Golden Girls because she became the fourth member of her adopter's pack!
These days, Sophia spends her time lounging on one of her many cozy dog beds scattered throughout the house. She even has one on the back porch, where she patiently waits for the barn cat to stroll by so she can run along the fence and bark with delight. It's one of her favorite daily routines and a perfect reflection of her spunky personality.
Stories like Sophia's remind us never to overlook our sweet senior pets. They still have so much love, joy, and companionship to give. We are incredibly grateful to our staff member for opening his heart and home and giving Sophia the wonderful life she deserves. Seeing her thrive is a beautiful reminder that every pet deserves a second chance, no matter their age. 🧡
