It's all about prevention! Do you realize that it may cost about 7 times to treat your dog than what one year of preventive would cost!?

Heartworms are born, live and die inside of dogs--with a stop along the way inside mosquitoes. That's why your dog needs year-round heartworm prevention AND yearly heartworm testing. https://bit.ly/4oIBPoe

Today I want to share something that every pet owner should know—not to create fear, but to encourage understanding and compassion.

Routine procedures like spays, neuters, dental cleanings, and mass removals are performed every day and are generally very safe. But “routine” does not mean “risk-free.”

Any procedure involving anesthesia carries some level of risk. Even with experienced veterinarians, careful monitoring, and excellent care, there are rare situations where an unexpected complication occurs that no one could have predicted or prevented.

For those who have lost a pet during a routine procedure the grief is overwhelming. They didn’t make a careless decision—they made what they believed was the best choice for their pet’s health.

Please choose kindness before judgment. Pet owners are already carrying unimaginable guilt and heartbreak. Your veterinary team is often grieving too, because we dedicate our lives to caring for animals and every loss affects us deeply. Luckily this is a rare occurrence but it does happen.

The takeaway isn’t to avoid needed veterinary care. It’s to have informed conversations with your veterinarian, understand both the benefits and the risks of any procedure, and make the best decision you can with the information available.

Love sometimes means making difficult choices without any guarantees. Hold your pets a little closer today, and extend grace to those whose stories ended differently. ❤️🐾

❗🦮PROTECT THOSE PAWS! - We've got a "too hot to trot" warning this week for our pups, as it will be scorching hot for the next several days. A reminder than when the air temp is 95°, concrete and asphalt temps can reach 120-140° or higher, which can cause burns to paws in as little as 1-5 minutes! Make sure those pups stay in the grass, or just limit walks to early morning or later evening.
