As Memorial Day weekend kicks off, summer gatherings and the smell of barbecue fills the air, it’s easy for pet owners to include their dogs in the celebration. However, these festivities can bring increased risk for canine patients.

🔵Avoid Table Scraps: Resist the temptation to share your holiday feast with your dog, and remind guests to do the same. Stick to your pet's regular diet to avoid upsetting their sensitive stomachs.

🔵Provide a Safe Haven: With guests coming and going, dogs may feel overwhelmed. Suggest setting up a quiet, comfortable indoor space where pets can relax away from the activity.

🔵Know the Signs: Familiarize yourself with the symptoms of pancreatitis in dogs, including vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and abdominal pain and seek veterinary care immediately.

Our Doctors always recommend annual heartworm testing and year round prevention. The manufacturers of the preventive medications AND the American Heartworm Society all have the same recommendations.

Our demographic area is inundated with ticks and mosquitos, (and a plethora of intestinal parasites, which Sentinel Spectrum and Credelio Quattro monthly tablets also prevent and help treat) so it is important that they are treated monthly all year long.

Is it expensive? Not as expensive as treatment for heartworm or Lyme disease.

What if my pet doesn't like it? They are a flavored chewable tablet. It's one tablet once a month. There are pill pockets and other tips and tricks our team can help you with if your pet won’t eat it on their own.
