TRRAC - Thoroughbred Retirement, Rehabilitation, and Careers is a thoroughbred aftercare program dedicated to providing dignified retirement, safety, and adoption to thoroughbred racehorses once they are retired from their racing careers. TRRAC places retired thoroughbreds in new, approved homes while offering proper downtime, retirement, retraining, and if need be, rehabilitation. TRRAC horses ar

e evaluated for soundness, mentality, and suitability in new careers while being trained as well as shown in events such as paper chasing, fox hunting, hunters, dressage, eventing, jumpers, and pleasure riding. All horses who come through our program are fully evaluated and are up to date on their vaccinations, shoeing, dental floats, and nutrition plans. We re-start our horses with professional trainers, with many achieving careers in upper-level showing. All our horses are offered permanent sanctuary at Maui Meadow Farm at any time they need to return. TRRAC currently offers training solutions for owners, as well as volunteer, showing, and riding opportunities. We have a horse for everyone! All horses are available to meet and ride by appointment. Sign unseen options available Let us take care of all the paperwork and hassle. Know the horse you are receiving is represented honestly by a reputable re-homing organization. Originally, adopter Laura applied for another horse in our program during the 2020 pandemic. However, we had another horse in mind who we knew would do great things. Due to the pandemic, visits were closed to the public. We relied on phone calls, FaceTime and videos. Laura did not meet her horse until he stepped off the trailer- and the rest is good history for these two!

Laura Otten had previously owned an off-track Thoroughbred and always intended to return to riding and horse ownership. Over the years, she had followed several aftercare organizations, hoping to adopt another Thoroughbred someday...Interestingly, The Astral Rascal wasn’t the horse she initially applied for. Instead, TRRAC staff thoughtfully matched them based on her experience and long-term goals.

So comfy!

We bed our rehabs to their knees. We keep our horses comfortable and happy during their stay with us. Ask us how to sponsor a horse in need today. We have a large percentage of horses in rehabilitation who need support for basic needs such as straw, hay, supplements, medications and veterinarian visits for diagnostics.

Taylor's Bridge was rescued in 2025 after he found himself in a very bad place. After his rescue and quarantine time, he transferred to TRRAC'S main facility to continue to regain health and find him a home.

Here he is with his new girl who fell in love with him! This beautiful pair will grow together for years to come! Thank you to all who sponsored Taylor's Bridge and his journey.

This horse is going to be ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE

An update on the rescue c**t we brought home back in April… and let’s just say, the camera does not do this boy justice.

At just 4 years old, he is already closing in on 17.1 hands, and the amount of growing he still has left to do is insane. He has massive joints, heavy bone, and BIG hooves. Literally every single person who meets him just stops, drops their jaw, and stares in awe. You truly cannot comprehend his size until you are standing right next to him. He is very downhill at the moment, so his front end needs to catch up with his hind end.

The best part? He is an absolute gentleman. Despite still being a c**t, he is incredibly well-behaved, loves his neighbors over the fence, and could care less about mares. His absolute favorite thing is interacting with people. He is also smart enough to realize the leaf blower blows his mane in the wind and keeps him cool when it’s hot out.

A Quick Medical Update-
He is gaining good weight, but we have had to push his castration back a few weeks. Sadly, his hooves were a total mess when he arrived, and he recently developed a painful front-hoof abscess. He is currently too sore to stand on it for a full trim, but our farrier has been out and is returning this Friday to help us get it draining further and bring him some relief.

Want to Meet the Gentle Giant?
We have had so many requests to visit him, so we are opening the doors.

Want to schedule a Visit?

If you want to see his jaw-dropping size in person, send us a DM to schedule a time.

Sponsor His Journey: His medical care, farrier visits, and rehab require a village. If you would like to sponsor his care, every bit helps.

Volunteer: Want to get hands-on and help us with his daily care? Reach out.

Drop a comment below if you love a gentle giant, and please share his journey so we can find him the support he deserves.
