Rebel Eugene Brooks

Rebel, 14, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025. He was also known as Rebel Roo, Reb and Roo Roo. Rebel was born in Water Valley, MS and moved to Oxford, MS at 6 weeks old after a Facebook post for free puppies with the stipulation of going to a good home. Rebel started attending Pet-A-Pup events before finals week at the JD Williams Library at Ole Miss at the age of 6 months where he loved getting the attention from the students. In 2012, Rebel’s twin sister Minnie joined our family from a longtime friend. At the beginning, he didn’t know about his sister moving in, but it didn’t take long that the two were inseparable. Rebel never met a stranger and would get jealous if Minnie received more attention than him. As a puppy, he was too rambunctious to pass his certification for therapy dog. As he got older, he calmed down and still loved getting attention leading us to complete his therapy dog certification. Rebel continued to make everyone smile that he met. He loved walks at the park, stopping at the park bench to watch the geese and car rides, especially his weekly trip to Chick-Fil-A for ice cream. He was registered with AKC Canine Partners Program, earned titles of Canine Good Citizen, Canine Good Citizen Advanced, Trick Dog Novice, Fit Dog Bronze and Fit Dog Silver. Rebel was a certified therapy pet with Love on a Leash. Rebel has joined his twin sister Minnie across the Rainbow Bridge and leaves behind his mom, Lisa.

Honoring All Who Serve — Two-Legged and Four-Legged

This Veterans Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who have served our country — and the loyal animals who’ve stood faithfully beside them.

From horses and mules that carried supplies in earlier wars to the military service dogs who continue to serve today — detecting explosives, locating the wounded, standing guard, and offering comfort — animals have long been silent heroes of our armed forces.

At Coleman Pet Services, we recognize the incredible bond between service members and their animals — a bond built on trust, courage, and unconditional love.

Today and every day, we remember and thank all who served — human and animal alike. ❤️💙🐾

The Lishman family has said goodbye to our beloved companion after 14 years.

Dave was a 14 year old golden lab who loved his family more than anything. Dave was a loyal, smart, handsome, loving boy who gave everyone in the room love and kisses. Dave knew all of his favorite words, snacks, and his family members names. Dave loved his mom, Elizabeth, so much and almost every Friday she would always bring home a special snack for him and his fur sister, Stella. Dave loved to go on rides, play with any ball, be outside and go camping or swimming. Some of our favorite memories were made during past camping trips. Dave loved to be in the water having fun with his siblings and would always rush them back to land at any little splash. He was the best protector that you could have asked for while they all grew up together. Dave was never just a pet, but a much loved family member and friend to many, everybody loved him. Dave will be so greatly missed by us all and his big little fur sister Stella.
