Sarcoids are one of the most common equine skin tumors - yet no two cases are alike. Their size, location, type, and behavior can all influence how they’re managed.

Depending on the case, treatment options may include surgical removal, cryotherapy, banding, injectable therapy, or a combination of these approaches. 🧊 💉

Although the weather may not seem like it, fall is right around the corner and fall f***l testing can get pretty hectic around the office. Ensuring samples make it to the lab with correct paperwork helps us keep everything running smoothly and prevent delays in getting results.

Those tiny yellow dots aren’t dirt – they’re bot fly eggs 🪰

Adult bot flies lay their eggs on a horse’s legs, shoulders, and chest during the warmer months. When a horse licks or bites at the eggs, the warmth and moisture stimulate them to hatch. The larva, then migrate through the horse’s GI tract and eventually reach the stomach, where they spend the winter.

While bot infestations are often more of a nuisance than a major health concern, a heavy parasite can contribute to irritation and digestive issues.

What can you do?
✔️Remove eggs regularly when you see them while grooming
✔️Practice good parasite control with the help of your vet
✔️Deworm at the appropriate time of year to target bot flies
