Amethyst Ridge has lost a big piece of our barn family this past weekend with the passing of Chloe and CruZe. It was only 6 weeks after closing and moving into the farm that was supposed to be our “last stop” as a group, but unfortunately life had others plans and they were both needed over the bridge sooner than we ever would’ve wanted. No time is enough time to love anyone, but Chloe and CruZe… lifetimes wouldn’t cover it, either. We were the little farm that could, would, & did for the smallest moment in time. We miss you guys already, don’t have too much fun up there without us. 💛

Wednesday afternoon considerations from a madwoman (I’m a horse girl, what can I say?)

Watching the crew settle in these last few months has put so much into perspective when it comes to a horses mental/emotional wellness’ role in their everyday lives. As equestrians we all want what’s best for our horses so when the time comes that you’re seeing what the best produces, it’s something to be proud of.

Speaking for myself… I used to care about the image but it came at the cost of the horses, and who are we trying to impress by being “perfect”? There’s nothing realistic about “perfect”, it’s a social construct that actively strips our selves AND our horses of individualism & expression. What some call behavioral nuances, “naughtiness”, are merely communications we haven’t deciphered. Listening to process or retain is a learned skill that you work towards bettering, that’s just science!
