Amber is also going on adventures to learn how to deal with new distractions. She recently went to Home Goods. She was overly excited when we first went in, so we left the store for a walk to get some of her energy out. When we went back, she was so good! Sometimes it takes a little work to get puppies calm enough to accompany us into stores. This scenario is exactly why we offer training programs that include field trips. We want to see the quirky behavior that may pop up in new situations before sending them home.

Little Daisy šŸŒ¼ We have a house full of Golden Retrievers. Daisy is the baby! Sheā€™s learning all the things though! We are focusing on crate training and lots of manners around people and in the house. Sheā€™s also learning commands that she continues to improve on daily. JOSIE!! If you donā€™t know Josie, then you might not be able to imagine how significant this photo is! We took her on an outing to a local park. There were runners, kids, geese and all sorts of noises. She did so well! She is a very hyper and excitable girl who doesnā€™t tire easily. She was able to calm down and control those impulses! Sometimes it can take a while to have a breakthrough, but it will happen with consistency and patience! Josie will have a few more adventures then she will be ready to graduate!

Hello from Rhodes!!!
Such a happy, energetic golden retriever puppy who has improved so much!!! Sheā€™s still working on impulse control, but weā€™ve made great progress. Jumping and jerking on the leash have been big problems since the beginning of her training. She still wants to push back sometimes, but sheā€™s probably 80% better! We have started field trips with Rhodes & her sister, Reese! This is where we will see the most important improvements, so their parents will be able to take them Out & About for adventures!

Daisy has LOVED the cooler temperatures weā€™ve had recently! šŸ„¹šŸƒ

Although the cooler weather has made her feel a little extra feisty šŸ˜œ, sheā€™s making amazing progress toward becoming a well-mannered girl! Weā€™re so proud of how far sheā€™s come and canā€™t wait to see the progress she continues to make throughout the rest of Summer School! šŸ’›šŸ¾

Josie is another excitable puppy! She doesnā€™t slow down much!!! This is very normal. When working with young dogs especially, we work to balance structure with playtime. We could be harsh and probably get things done faster, but we still want her to have the same personality- just calmer and more focused! Daily practice really does add up over time. If we get near the end of training, and we havenā€™t met our goals, we donā€™t charge extra. We just ask if we can keep the puppy a little while longer. Sometimes a week can make a huge difference. We focus on results, not a tight schedule.

Amber is doing really well! Sheā€™s has learned to focus better around more distractions. She about to start field trips, so we can gauge how sheā€™s doing. That also gives us a better idea of what we need to focus on. Sheā€™s still very much an excitable puppy, but weā€™ve seen a lot of progress!

Rhodes is a good girl too - like her sister, Reese! They are both fun, rowdy, excitable puppies, but they are learning how to be patient. Thatā€™s a huge part of puppy training! We start working on commands right away, but itā€™s really the focus and ability to calm down that makes the difference when distractions come along!
