Blondie was in labor for over two days and delivered two live pups and two dead pups. She was still in distress even after an oxytocin injection, so she was seen on emergency by Internal Medicine. Ultrasound showed she had retained tissue in her uterus and surgery was elected to remove the infected tissue and spay her. Such a privilege to be able to save this brave momma 🥹

Buddy is a 13 year old pitbull who was losing weight. His ultrasound showed a thickened stomach wall with lymph nodes nearby and we were worried he may have cancer. We did an upper GI scope and fortunately diagnosed him with chronic inflammatory enteropathy and a stomach polyp with no cancer. He should feel much better with the right diet and meds! ❤️💜

Tess has struggled with urinary tract infections since birth. Her ultrasound showed a very abnormal left kidney and ureter that was likely a congenital anomaly with an opportunistic infection. After discussing interventional procedures including stenting, it was elected to remove the kidney. Tess is recovering amazingly from surgery and we are so excited for her to be a normal puppy!! ❤️ 🐶 ❤️

R***r came in on emergency because he was very painful and couldn’t walk. He tested positive for Lyme exposure and fortunately he has made a full recovery with treatment! ❤️‍🩹

Kota had been coughing for weeks and not responding to the usual antibiotics.

He was referred to Internal Medicine from a referral partner in Franklin for further evaluation. His x-rays showed diffuse inflammation in his lungs and a focal nodule in his right cranial lobe. Bronchoscopy showed a lot of mucus in his lung that we suctioned out for more testing and found two rare types of bacteria. He is currently being treated and responding beautifully! Way to go, Kota!! 🫁

Lil Gangster is only 13 weeks old and broke her leg.

The fracture was open, comminuted and involved her growth plate with severe trauma to her muscles. After considering all options, it was elected to amputate the leg based on her comfort. She bounced back after surgery and is a sweet cuddle bug. Way to go, Lil Gangster! ❤️ ♥️ ❤️

Koa is 15 years old and was vomiting with weight loss.

He was transferred to our Internal Medicine Service for severely elevated liver values. His ultrasound showed a thick gallbladder wall, cavitated mass in the liver, and gallstones. We performed a cholecystocentesis (gallbladder aspirate) to retrieve a sample of his bile for bacterial culture. His culture grew Actinomyces which we are actively treating with antibiotics.

He has now gained weight, no vomiting, and normal lab work! So much fun to give this black cat another life ❤️ 🐈‍⬛ ❤️

Axel was struggling with recurrent pyothorax (pus and infection in his chest) and couldn’t breathe.

He was referred to Internal Medicine from a referral partner in Eaton for relapse each time he finished his course of antibiotics. After reviewing his records from another specialty hospital, special changes were made to his antibiotic therapy. His mom diligently gave him three shots a day for over three months, and we are so happy that his pyothorax looks clear! Way to go, Axel! 🐈‍⬛ 🫁
