One of the perks of being a WSH member is having exclusive access to special classes like Barkour!

“Barkour” is using the environment as a type of agility obstacles. Pups work hard to build confidence and go through, over and under whatever we can find!

Basic skills can be taught in the facility and then taken on the road, like our recent trip to Hop Brook 🌳

Not only does Barkour build confidence but can help increase physical fitness, engage your dog’s brain, add a new challenge to your training routine, build your bond in a new way and allows for practice of the basics - like loose leash walking!

(Facebook doesn’t let us add videos to posts with photos so we’ll share a reel with videos soon!)

We are SUPER excited to share that Jess has earned her Certified Dog Behavior Consultant credential with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC)! 🎉

In order to achieve this, a trainer needs...

⭐ 3 to 4 years of hands-on professional experience dealing with complex behavioral issues (such as aggression, reactivity, and anxiety)

⭐ 400+ hours of continuing education

⭐ Letters of recommendation from a veterinarian, a current consultant/colleague and a client

⭐ Submission of 3 completed case studies covering a variety of behavior issues

⭐ Completion of a lengthy written exam with a passing score (...Jess got a 99%!)

This has been a big goal for her and we are ready to CELEBRATE! 🎉

Here's to continuing to better ourselves to help the dogs and people that need us 💕

SEPTEMBER TEAM OF THE MONTH 🍂🏆

Join us in congratulating Darla and her mom, Jessie, on a well deserved Team of the Month!

Darla is a smart, sweet girl working toward her therapy dog certification and she is well on her way 🐾

Darla recently earned her AKC Community Canine title which, as Trainer Sandy put it, is like the neighborhood "good dog PhD!"

Bravo to Jessie's handling skills and her dedication to this sweet girl! Congratulations and keep up the great work. We are rooting for you!
