Owensboro Humane Society is a NO-KILL animal shelter in the Daviess County area founded in 1968. Open daily from 11:00am - 4:00pm.

We are independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization operating ONLY by donation. See available pets on our website! We are a NO-KILL animal shelter in the Daviess County area and are an independent, non-profit organization. Even though we are small in size, we are big at heart. Our size and fund restrictions limit the amount of animals we can rescue; however, we are dedicated to help as many animals as possible.

Look who was adopted! HEAVENLY! HEAVENLY was born here with a sibbling by a momma kitty we had that was named "BLESSED". We will be featuring a story on "BLESSED", in a later time.

Sadly BLESSED (Heavenly's mom) died 2 weeks after her babies were born here. Our Manager, Tonya, fed HEAVENLY and her sibbling for weeks.
MIKE ETCHISON and his mother were following this story and were waiting for the day to come and adopt "BLESSED". That is what they had named her! ❤
The day that this adoption happened was full of joy with the ETCHISON family as they had been checking on the kittens, ever since their mother, BLESSED had passed.

A DOUBLER EVERYBODY! OLIVER & SHADOW ADOPTION! ❤
William and Helen Smith were looking for a bonded pair of kitties. They had lost their 2 and had been taking time to heal. We had many sets of bonded kitties and showed all of them to the Smiths.
We told them that OLIVER & SHADOW were much older and had been waiting for quite a while for a home. The Smiths claimed they really liked a younger set of kitties we had but went home to think about it....
Guess what! Helen called us and said they were going to take OLIVER and SHADOW because those 2 kitties had been waiting so long and were seniors and being passed over. 🥰 We were so happy to hear that!
We love the Smith's big hearts and they were so fun to talk to!
BTW! SHADOW was digging in to Helen's arm while she was trying to smile so big! LOLOL

Everyone congratulate a big doubler! OLIVER & SHADOW SMITH!

CHI-CHI has a new home! Martin Brown had just graduated nursing school and wanted a small dog to travel with him. When he was introduced to CHI-CHI, he fell in love. CHI-CHI danced for Martin! How precious, and how smart!

HELEN has a home! MELIA PURCELL came in looking at our kitties. She really took to HELEN and HELEN loved her. HELEN hasn't been here long and was declawed. We are so happy she didn't stay here long! Everyone congratulate HELEN PURCELL! ❤❤❤

CURLY (now MOSES) has a home! Crystal Jade McCoy came in looking for a small doggie. We had 3 sibblings! CURLY climbed up on her and wouldn't let any of her sibblings get close! Hahaha

Well, I think we can figure out what happened next! CURLY's new name is MOSES! Congratulations to MOSES McCOY!!

LOOK who has a new home! Jason came in looking for a new black kitty. He loved EARTH and was ready to take her home. His daughter said that "EARTH needs a friend!" She chose ASTER! So. now both EARTH and ASTER have a wonderful home together for years of memories and love!!

BOULDER has a great new forever home! Kari Cecil was looking for a companion for her doggie, BlANCHE! Kari met BOULDER, a black lab mix, at the Humane Society and knew he was a perfect fit. She was right!

These are recent pictures that the Cecil family sent us on BOULDER at his new home. He loves the Cecil family and his new sister BLANCHE! BOULDER loves his new forever home and is so happy!
