The sweetest success stories often start with a diamond in the rough. 💎
Street showed up to group class a few months ago, and his first night was pretty tough. He struggled to settle - barking, whining, pulling on the leash, and having a hard time focusing enough to follow basic commands.
But his owners deserve some major kudos. They were invested in the process! They asked questions, took notes, and followed our guidance. They stuck it out and were willing to put in the work.
After that first night, we talked with them about developing a plan to build an “off switch” (the ability to settle) and improve his consistency with focus and basic commands.
One thing we learned was that Street had already spent several months in a different training program, but his owners were still struggling to see results. While he seemed to catch on during individual sessions, those skills weren’t carrying over and it was like starting over again each time they went to train him.
Sometimes, it’s not that a dog can’t learn. It’s that we need to figure out how that dog learns best and what pieces of the puzzle might be missing.
After a private lesson, some Day Training, and continued work in group classes, it turns out this guy really CAN learn! He’s like a whole new dog!
We are so blessed to be part of this process and watch his progress alongside his amazing owners, who trusted us enough to give us a chance and fully embraced the process.
