Happy Tails Friday!
Oscar (formerly Rocky) joined my little family as Snuffles (SCHS alumna Elaine) and I were still a little bruised from the loss of the other two members of our fur-family earlier in the year. Snuffles had never been an only cat, and it was clear she was lonely. When SCHS listed kittens for adoption, it seemed time to bring someone new into our family. I had originally thought I was there to see a different kitten, but Rocky kept coming to sit in my lap, so that was that.

At home, Rocky settled in quickly and soon was snuggling up with Snuffles like he’d always been there. I dreamt his name the second night he was home, and so Oscar he became! He has grown from a 4.5lb baby to a 10lb teenager over the fall. His kitten playfulness brought Snuffles back to life, and now I can count on them spending hours on the floor rolling around (usually around 1:30AM) or playing with toys. When he finally runs out of energy, he stretches out next to me on his back and sleeps without a care in the world.

Meet Simon — a playful little explorer with a uniquely curled tail and a heart full of love!
Simon was rescued by a wonderful foster mom who quickly discovered just how special he is. With his adorable curled tail and endless curiosity, Simon brings charm and personality everywhere he goes. He’s adventurous, playful, and always ready to chase toys, pounce on crinkly balls, or investigate whatever his humans are doing.
This sweet boy loves being part of the action and happily follows his people around the house just to see what’s going on. When playtime is over, Simon transforms into the perfect cuddle buddy. He loves curling up in a warm lap, stretching out in a sunny windowsill, and soaking up affection. His gentle purrs start the moment he’s picked up.
Simon also has a wonderfully social personality. He gets along well with other cats and absolutely LOVES the dog in his foster home, making him a great fit for a variety of families and households.
Simon is neutered, litter box trained, and current on all age-appropriate vaccinations. He’s healthy, happy, and ready to find a forever home of his own.

Buddy joined our family in April 2025. I can honestly say that we were not looking for a senior, blind dog. But, we saw the picture of Buddy, met him and heard his story and knew he was meant to join our family.
He is the bestest boy ever and brings so much joy to our lives! Buddy has become an international traveler. He is gentle with my daughter who has special needs. My husband is sad when Buddy chooses my lap instead of his. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him and visitors to our home “fight” over who is going to snuggle with him first. He has won the hearts of several of my patients when he visits me at work!
Buddy is the “family member” that we didn’t know we needed. He is deeply loved and treasured! Thank you for the amazing gift!

And if you’re reading this and considering adopting a blind dog, just do it. Yes, it requires a bit more attention to safety. But 💯 worth the love you will receive in return

Happy Memorial Day. Our office is closed today.

Memorial Day, formerly called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance to honor the men and women who died while serving in the United States military.

This day originated after the American Civil War to recognize fallen soldiers and to decorate their graves. Today, we honor all the fallen heroes who died in service to our country.

This photo from 1975 is at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Cleveland County, Oklahoma.

Meet Max — a fearless little adventurer with a playful spirit and a growing cuddly side!

Max came into foster care with his three siblings and quickly earned the nickname “Maximus” from his foster family because of his bold and energetic personality. This handsome orange boy, complete with an adorable little patch of white around his mouth, is always ready for action.

Whether he’s wrestling with his siblings, sparring with the adult cats, climbing the cat castle, or chasing toys across the room, Max is happiest when he’s on the move. He’s incredibly curious and loves exploring everything around him, always searching for his next game or adventure.

Max also has a social and adaptable personality. He gets along well with the other cats in his foster home and even does well with the family’s large dog. As he continues to grow, he’s becoming more affectionate and cuddly every day, making him a wonderful balance of playful and loving.

With his outgoing personality and easygoing nature, Max would make an excellent addition to a family looking for a fun and entertaining companion.
Max is house trained, neutered, and current on all age-appropriate vaccinations.
