🧬 CAN WHAT YOUR DOG EATS CHANGE HOW FAST THEIR BODY AGES?

A fascinating new peer-reviewed pilot study suggests it might.
Researchers followed pugs for 6 months, comparing dogs that stayed on extruded dry kibble with dogs switched to a cooked, minimally processed, human-grade diet formulated by a board-certified veterinary nutritionist.

Instead of just measuring weight or bloodwork, researchers looked at changes in the dogs’ DNA associated with biological aging — essentially, how old their bodies appeared compared with their actual age.

🥩 The surprising finding? Dogs switched to fresh food showed a nearly 1-year shift toward a younger biological age in just 6 months, while dogs that stayed on kibble did not show a significant change.

🥩 Fresh food: +2.75 years → +1.80 years
🥣 Kibble: +2.77 years → +2.46 years

Even more interesting, the dogs’ bodyweights remained stable, suggesting the shift wasn’t simply due to weight loss. Researchers also found significant changes involving KISS1R, a gene associated with metabolism and obesity, in the fresh-fed dogs but not the kibble-fed dogs.

Published in Veterinary Record Open, a peer-reviewed journal of the British Veterinary Association published by Wiley, the study adds to growing research on the potential benefits of balanced, minimally processed foods.

Notice how they chose to go eat the meat instead of eating some veggies and fruit!🙄😏🤣😉 Like I’ve always said they deserve to make the choice what they want to eat.

In 2000, long before his rise to Hollywood fame, Ryan Gosling walked into a quiet Los Angeles animal shelter and unknowingly met one of the most meaningful companions of his life. Amid the rows of barking dogs was George, an older, scruffy dog who didn’t beg for attention or try to charm passersby. He simply existed, quiet and overlooked. While others passed him by, Ryan didn’t. He saw George not for his appearance, but for his presence, his soul. Without a second thought, he brought him home. From that day on, the two were inseparable. George wasn’t just a pet, he became Ryan’s constant companion, his grounding force, a quiet reminder that love often comes in unexpected forms.

George followed Ryan everywhere, from film sets to red carpets, and became something of a legend in his own right. Gosling once joked on The Ellen Show that George thought he was a rockstar, not a dog. Even at 17, George had a quiet charisma. But beyond the laughs was a deep, sacred bond. Ryan wore George’s tag around his neck, printed his face on shirts, and spoke of him with reverence. When George passed away, it wasn’t just the loss of a pet, it was the loss of family. Yet the love didn’t end there. Years later, Ryan stopped his car to rescue a dog running through traffic, no cameras, no crowd, just instinct. He’s quietly advocated for animal adoption and welfare ever since. Because Ryan knows what George taught him: sometimes, the forgotten ones offer the deepest love. And when you choose to see them, really see them, they don’t just change, they change you. "Don’t shop. Adopt. They’re not just looking for a home. They’re waiting to teach you how to love.

📢 Let’s spread this incredible story of kindness, vision, and impact.
Share it, talk about it, and let it inspire more good in the world.

Happy July 4th. Please remember to keep your pets safe. While some humans enjoy the fireworks our pets and other wildlife are usually terrified. Keep them close and play music or something to distract them from the noise. 🙏 for their safety!

Peas actually have quite a bit of fiber and low calorie. I’ve been mixing some in some canned peas with our dogs raw food as they need to watch their waistline. They are tolerating it well.

The growing prevalence of peas and pea protein in dog food has sparked debate among experts as to whether they are a good choice for use in pet food.

In loving memory of Zeus, our cherished canine companion. We bid him farewell on February 18 at the tender age of 9, far too young. A cancerous tumor, tragically linked to the microchip implanted during his time as a shelter puppy, cut his life short. He will be deeply missed for his loyal protection of Ron especially, myself kittens and the young boys in our neighborhood. When Ron fell sick in November Zeus guarded him and didn’t even want me to get near as I had to take Ron to the ER not knowing it was a stroke. Till we meet again.

Puppies require temporary foster care. Due to my sister's passing, I must travel out of town for a few days to attend to her estate. Please send a private message to inquire. The puppies have been litter box trained since six weeks old, and food will be supplied.
